Re: 1999 V70XC Fuel Pressure Regulator Return Line Pinch Point
I used Carter P72263 from Rockauto. It was about $60. Started the car this morning and so far so good: no more stumbling and misfires during the first minute or so. When I shut down the engine, I pressed the schrader valve at the rail and fuel shot out...So, I didn't bother doing another fuel pressu...

Re: remove catalytic converter
The rotten egg smell could be a bad catalytic converter, but it could also be that the engine is running rich, which of course can destroy a cat converter, because of a fault in one of the sensors. It's all one big dizzying loop. To even get started diagnosing this problem, since one affects the oth...

Re: Evap leak at breather on filler neck? Might have to dig deeper...
Good update! My 99 had an intermittent P0455, which would clear after a couple of days or so. I tested the purge valve by jumping it with battery power and blowing or sucking on the corresponding port. It always passed that "bench" test. Then one day, the p0455 went on and would not go awa...

Re: The Resurrection of Ekaterina 1999 S70 AWD silver
When I replaced the fuel pump on my 99 v70xc, I did the partial-tank-drop using Robert's video as guidance. I dropped the tank three times in one weekend because of f' ups and overlooking things. The first time took me about 12 hours...then it it got 50% quicker each try. Have plenty of jacks. Have ...

Re: WTB: 98-00 AWD Fuel Pump/Sending Unit Assembly. Prefer one that doesn't work.
The check valve is integrated in the outlet nipple as shown in the example picture. I was able to confirm this by blowing into the nipple and couldn't blow air into it. When I sucked air through the nipple, it would flow. What I'm thinking is that a fuel system that doesn't hold pressure (after elim...

Re: Best Place To Break Through The Engine Compartment Firewall
There's also this hole in the fuse box, if they're not occupied by relays like on mine. How you run the wire to the fuse box will be up to you.

Re: The great rebuild | 417 blue 98 v70 403k km
I recently heard (where have I been?), "The Dread is worse than the Doing", which rang true for me. I dreaded removing CV axles on my Toyota. The thought of jacking up the car, removing wheels, removing splash guards, disassembling the steering and suspension stuff, crawling under the car ...

Re: 98 v70 base (FWD): 215/65r16 tire fitment
1) The gap from the top of the tire to front strut lower spring seat. +1. I've tried putting 225/50/r17 and the top of the front tire was 1/2 inch from the spring seat. I can just imagine a larger diameter wheel would be hitting that spring seat. The front wheels only rubbed on the fender at full c...
