Re: No start after new battery 98 V70 glt

Round of applause to Misha for suggesting correct answer. Just for my education: i thought that immobilizer problem usually should be accompanied with a immobilizer(key) light on the dash. So older Volvo's dont have that light i guess and show the issue with flashing hazard lights?

Re: $200 2000 Volvo V70XC

"Steam cleaning" is great test. Likely this car has a huge leak somewhere. Ideally you would remove all spark plugs. Pressurize the coolant system and with articulate borescope look into each cylinder for a leak. The fact that it was rebuild does not prove anything. Who did it, what equipm...

Re: $200 2000 Volvo V70XC

If the work was done by "volvo shop" I would expect them to stand behind their product and for modest diagnostic fee to look at your engine and hopefully tell you what is wrong with it 100%. In terms of tools like borescope- it is a great tool and if you have something that works, I would ...

Re: $200 2000 Volvo V70XC

When you will sort out this issue, look at engine mounts. The top one is for sure is done. It is great that exhaust gases are not detected in coolant, but lots of 2010 Priuses have the leaking headgasket in the similar fashion. Appoud all your work and research. Pressure testing system and borescope...

Re: $200 2000 Volvo V70XC

Pardon me asking: was the exhaust gas test performed on warm working engine that reached operating temperature(ideally after a test drive)? The video will not do the justice to this issue since we not yet able to transmit the smell. It may look like "ok working older engine". Another test ...

Re: 2010 v50 2.4i - NO GREASE on brake caliper slide pins???

Let's focus on your location. In NYC you will likely go through pads x10 faster than me in upstate NY. I love this style of the caliper since they rarely seeze. I always put a little of silicone brake grease to the sliders after polishing them. I would also try to replace pads at 50% life so the cal...

Re: 1999 ME7 flooded engine, does flooring gas pedal stop fuel being injected?

I might be wrong, but I think abscate was interested in diagnostic testing value of "clear flood mode".(see compression test or attempting to clean extra fuel from engine). I know that most of Fords still support this feature(at least my 15 F150 has), but dont know about this generation of...

Re: 2010 v50 2.4i - NO GREASE on brake caliper slide pins???

"The logic for no grease is most people will gob it on so the air trapped inside won't allow the piston to slide further in or perhaps outward if the air were to pass somehow. This would cause the pad to not move freely." That sure is true with different style of caliper. One where you hav...

Re: 2005 S60 AWD Turbo - Coil Springs

Those quick struts were junk. Same story on my 01v70xc. Sachs stopped making them anyway. All chineesium quick struts are junk. Save yourself headache and just buy individual parts to assemble oem style strut(original springs not mubea, lesforders or whatever else fcp sells. Oem only and you will be...

Re: 2010 v50 2.4i - Rear Bumper Tow Hook Cover - How Is It Attached?

I think there should be a plastic wire with "arrow" tips on the ends. You squeeze the tip and pass it through the cover so when you unlock the cover it will not be lost. The other side should be attached similarly to the eyelid location on the bumper or reinforcement bar. Just using the lo...
