Re: Alternative source wanted for wiring repair p/n 3523813 wire & 9144275 socket
Thanks again for the input and advice. I found a pair of Volvo harness repair wires and a connector shell set on FCP and ordered them. The set is for hooking up side turn indicator lights, and it contains the same parts (wires 3523813, shell 9144275 ) needed for the control connector on the cooling ...

Re: ECC climate control temp sensor measurements made easier
I don't know if it will work, but let us know if you try it. I agree with you about the difficulty sourcing parts locally. I have had good luck purchasing parts from DigiKey... they will sell small quantities of resistors, LEDs, switches, etc and they have a $5 USPS first class mail shipping option ...

Re: Alternative source wanted for wiring repair p/n 3523813 wire & 9144275 socket
I installed the replacement harness yesterday... cut off the old pins, soldered the wires, applied adhesive lined heat shrink over the connections for protection. The new shell fit OK in the fan relay. The new shell has small clips on the sides that interfere slightly with the larger connectors on e...

Re: 1997 Volvo 850 GLT Tie Rods
I did all four on my '97 855 about 7 or 8 years ago. The inners were in good shape at that time and could probably have been left alone.

Re: 1997 Volvo 850 GLT Radiator Hoses Preventative Maintenance?
I replaced all the hoses on my '97 855 to reduce the chances of sudden coolant loss while out and about, potentially leading to engine failure.

Re: 1997 Volvo 850 surges in Park, feels like it wants to die
I was thinking along the lines of vacuum leak too, as mentioned above, and also it could be a dirty or binding AIC (automatic idle control) valve. The AIC can be removed, inspected and cleaned if needed.

Re: 1997 Volvo 850 GLT Turbo steering boot won't go back on
Could you upload a photo of the boot? Did you change tie rods? If so, is the old one the same diameter as the new one?

Dissecting a cracked expansion tank cap -- 9445462
I've had a couple of these expansion tank caps for the coolant system crack over the years. The most recent one cracked last month when I overheated the car a little bit due to a disconnected fan relay wire. This is a Gates cap purchased from FCP 3 or 4 years ago. I cut the cap open to see what's in...
