Re: SAS Delete: the Math and Physics behind it
looks like volvospeed is down that has another DIY for this mod. I would like to add that I performed this SAS delete and the A37 and A32 are the correct pins for the diode within the ECU. Note that you have to keep the solenoid/wiring in addition to the secondary air pump relay wiring as well. I wa...

Re: missing my boost
I'm sure you may be able to. JB Weld have metal menders too, but remember the unit is under some pressure. What the guys did on mine was silver solder it if I recall. What happened with mine was the 2 end mounts had come detached from the intercooler and allowed it to move between the radiator and A...

Re: The great rebuild | 417 blue 98 v70 403k km
I recently heard (where have I been?), "The Dread is worse than the Doing", which rang true for me. I dreaded removing CV axles on my Toyota. The thought of jacking up the car, removing wheels, removing splash guards, disassembling the steering and suspension stuff, crawling under the car ...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
I just received this Volvo brand front wheel bearing dust shield labeled as made in China. Just 9 months earlier in 8/22, I bought two labeled as made in Germany. Both came from FCP. And yes, the 5/23 Chinese one cost 35% more than the 8/22 German one due to inflation. No cost savings from the suppo...

Re: Name that rusty part
The clues of "round, aluminum" make me think it could it have been an aluminum drain plug gasket installed on the engine oil or the transmission fluid sumps. You're right, it's the engine oil drain plug gasket. 50 more MVS points to jreed. You're quite good at this. The drain plug was ins...

Re: Brake caliper failures and how to prevent them
Fittings seized: On rear calipers, the brake line fitting can become seized inside the caliper. I suspect the hole for the fitting has shrunk due to expansion from rust, grabbing the fitting. Removing the fitting will flatten its threads so it won't fit in a new caliper. A new caliper will require a...

Re: Brake caliper failures and how to prevent them
11 minute video showing the various brake line fittings and how they intersect, as well as cutting in a new line. Fantastic info for those like me who don't know what they are looking at:

I want to thank Neil for his assistance in acquiring a part in Canada. He had posted a link in the classified section here and I contacted the seller via kijji. Settled on price but the money transaction was a problem from the US side as the seller had no way to get him the money. I contacted Neil t...
