Re: ETM Question
You can but it'd be ineffective. In addition to the software variances DrDan mentioned the ETMs are addressed to the car. A more certain approach would be to send your ETM to a rebuilder. Xemodex is one rebuilder. Cluster Fix might do ETMs as well. They'll return your unit thus eliminating the chanc...

Re: Rusted Flange Screws 2007 V70 2.5t
Same problem here. My black ones were perfect while others were crumbling away with severe rust. I was happy they turned out. Come 2007, the last year for the P2's run, the parts feed to the assembly lines must've gotten irregular. The good news was that the hardware bins in my local hardware store ...

Re: Rusted Flange Screws 2007 V70 2.5t
Sorry for seeming to abandon this thread.
The site's downtime and the unexpected death of my sister derailed me for a while.
I remember my header panel screws being the same length.

HISTORY: 1) Over 3 V70's I've done drain & fills and one pump out aka Gibbons with no ill effects. .....I've used Toyota T-IV, Mobil3309, Maxlife Dex/Merc LV and a Wolf's Head Universal ATF. .....I add LubeGard (red bottle) at the recommended 1 oz. per system quart dosage. 2) Doing a drain &...

Re: How many drain and fills ?
To GlennG2759: Keep in mind that the product you want is the Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc LV.....the LV being the designation we need. Do you have 2 or 3 18mm aluminum washers on hand? Some people reuse 'em, some don't. Also, ATF is just heavily doctored oil so it goes into oil recycling without issue...

Re: VIN's with Magnetti Marelli ETM's?
How many miles are on your '01? I always ask this. If I remember correctly, the occasions of engine stoppage whilst driving caught the attention of the feds (NTSB?) and Volvo extended the warranty to 10 years and 200K. A coworker mentioned the severe hunting his car was exhibiting and that he had it...

Re: Switching to synthetic oil...
Since it was serviced regularly there shouldn't be any globs of sludge in it. Also, given that all this stuff has improved immeasurably over the life of this car AND that you don't live in Death Valley or the North Pole, sticking with a good quality (no bargain weirdo brands) conventional would be O...
