Re: Finding a 0-60 app is proving difficult
Anyone using an iPhone app for measuring performance of your car? I've been poking around and I'm surprised there's not much out there. "Torque" app seems to have vanished. "Torque Pro" is written by a different developer, and has nothing to do with "Torque" app. I thi...

Re: History of the Volvo 5 Cylinder: Part 2
Mom had a straight 6 Volvo in the 70s and for 1980 got a PRV which ate the camshaft up while I was driving and blamed on me. PRV yuck! The 86 Buick 3.8 shaked annoyingly the turbo 4 was fine, but the new 960 drove so good. Here in the US all 960 cars I saw were 6 cylinder. June The Car Talk guys (R...

Re: Replacement CV boots for crenulated retainer?
I found this axle on eEuroparts. Looks like there is a top (lid) that is fitted on the axle before the boot goes on. In any case I've never seen this type of axle on an 850 and as far as I can see this type is fitted to later model Volvos. I assume it is the inner boot on the drivers side axle. gkn ...

Re: Press for replacing upper torque mount
I simply bought a new one from rockauto. Much easier than going through all that pressing rigamarole. They aren't expensive. The ones that just bolt in are for the later models 99+. For the 98 you can buy this part and replace the whole thing for $120: https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/8139/Upper-To...

Re: POLL: How did you buy from FCP?
I too learned of FCP Groton from MVS 10 years ago. At that time there was a code to get a discount like eEuro has now. Through the years they changed to rewards codes they would send via email or attach to your account page. When they started the lifetime replacement policy, the discounts went away ...

Re: 1996 Volvo 850 GLT - 2 step central locking (keyless?) entry
The late 96 and all 97 850s don't have the box behind the glovebox, it is under the dash somewhere. They all use the same remote which looks like this: remote.jpg It is programmed to the car as follows: Programming a transmitter If you purchase additional transmitters (max. 4), they must be programm...
