There are 2 cam RPM sensors on a 2006 XC70. They are housed in round black plastic housings made by Denso. The intake one is clearly visible. Each has a connector. The rear one on the exhaust cam isn't visible until the top mount is removed.

The current draw is about 8mA for this fan as the coil is tiny. There's a function in Vida which looks at the current draw to ascertain if it's operational.

I always thought these non turbos ran Denso sensors. Yours must be a 2003MY due to a late 2002 date build perhaps as late as September.
