Re: New front rotors, calipers and pads, ABS lite persists
Well done on brake noise issue. The ABS light can be caused by: 1) Bad ABS sensor/wire at a wheel or in the wire near to any wheel 2) A sensor ring on an axle being corroded or dirty preventing the sensor getting a consistent signal 3) A failing ABS module. The first item can be tested by a resistan...

Re: 850 Need part Dust boot, Clutch fork
I searched on Google and did not find any in stock anywhere. You may have already try an internet search. Something that might work if you have no other offers, is to start calling Volvo shops and see if they have one in their own parts inventory. Their New Old Stock (NOS) may get you a bellows/dust...

Re: 850 Need part Dust boot, Clutch fork
Can someone who does have one measure it up and post the sizes here?
There is probably a close cousin car that uses a similar part

Re: 850 Need part Dust boot, Clutch fork
I'd imagine any car that uses an M56 would have one, which means even Ford-era stuff (P1s and P3s) should have it. Might be a different part number for those cars.

Re: 850 starts burning lots of oil from nowhere?
How do you check the oil level?
The most accurate reading will be after the car sits overnight,on a flat surface and before starting the engine...of course.

Re: 850 starts burning lots of oil from nowhere?
I don't think oil viscosity is the issue. I would not rely on estimating a 100 ml (3 oz.) loss by the dipstick. I'd guess that just surface tension could indicate that small amount. 700 ml (24 oz.) loss in 300 km (186 mi) is a lot. I'm surprised you haven't seen smoke (other than startup). I have fo...

Re: 850 starts burning lots of oil from nowhere?
i had an oil level issue with a Volvo V70Xc (98) I had bought a few years ago. Those who have owned these cars for a while know that some of the dipsticks have a habit of the pull breaking of or snapping. I never seemed to be able to get the oil level right. I tried measuring the oil in and back out...
