Re: Fluctuating coolant level.
The cap must keep the pressure up to a certain ponit. The boiling point of a liquid is the temperature at which its vapor pressure is equal to the pressure of the gas above it. The reason cooling systems run ~15 psi over atmosphere is to keep the gas pressure higher then the vapor pressure so the l...

Re: Question to early P2 T5 owners
I don't have one on my 2001 V70 T5 because I removed it. Engine bay DOES get grimier than I'd like though. The point about salted roads by Oragex holds a lot of weight in certain climates.

Fully functioning spark and how TCM interprets throttle angle
Recently I had a CEL for a coil pack. I waited until the CEL remained lit as previously it was flashing under hard throttle. Cylinder 4 was the culprit as found by my $4 ELM327 scanner. I pulled cylinder 4's coil pack and found a severely split boot and a cracked casing. I swapped it out with a used...

AC quit after awhile - 2001 V70 - part 30665118 Evap temp sensor
I like to mentioned this problem after a lot of research I could not find any thread on this particular problem. I had the problem with my 2001 V70 especially on a longer drive the aircondition would run but no air would come out of the vents after some time. I would turn the aircondition of for a w...

Re: VIN's with Magnetti Marelli ETM's?
How many miles are on your '01? I always ask this. If I remember correctly, the occasions of engine stoppage whilst driving caught the attention of the feds (NTSB?) and Volvo extended the warranty to 10 years and 200K. A coworker mentioned the severe hunting his car was exhibiting and that he had it...

Re: Fuel filler door won't unlock
If the hinge is getting hinky they can hang up. If it locks there must be a emergency release. Check your owner's manual. June

Re: Fuel filler door won't unlock
Are you sure there's no small 'manual' tab at the actuator ? (may look with a flash light) Fcpeuro lists the same part from 2001 on https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-fuel-door-lock-solenoid-s60-v70-xc70-s80-xc90-genuine-volvo-30612856#fitment Junkyard ones are perfectly OK to try, however this ...

Re: Fuel filler door won't unlock
I have the same issue periodically with my 01 T5. There is no emergency release and I got tired of pulling the trim panels off for access to free up the actuator. Once it's freed up it works fine for a while but eventually jams again. I ran a wire from the lock rod (I don't remember exactly how I at...
