Re: Rear trailing arm bushing XC70 2004 questions
I found using a longitudinally positioned floor jack is easier than conventionally placed jack + strap. This way it pulls the control arm closer to the front of the car when you jack it up, which makes it possible to align holes.

Re: 03 V70 cam seal leak... for the third time??
VVT hub leaks oil at the end of its life. Camshaft seal grinds a groove in the camshaft, so it starts leaking oil. New seal must be installed at a slightly different depth. Lower section of the cylinder block may stretch its threads, so the block starts to leak oil at the halves between lower and up...

Re: and now the water pump leaks 2001 V70 T5 Auto
Go with Aisin pump, it is what Volvo put in these cars. Don't need a locking tool. Use impact wrench on the crankshaft nut. May need to torture it for a minute, but it will eventually come off. Mark t-belt and all sprockets with white paper corrector or oil marker, so you know you put it back in a c...

Re: and now the water pump leaks 2001 V70 T5 Auto
Finally back on my feet - Question - What is the best way to release the T belt tensioner? I saw one vid where the guy loosens a 10(?)MM bolt - not take off the tensioner. So then, after the pump is replaced, how to set the tensioner to the proper tension? T-belt tensioner has only one 10 mm bolt t...

Re: 2006 V70: Replace radiator as preventative measure?
I did just that: a new Volvo radiator that I've luckily got with 1/3 discount. Bypassing the cooler is not a good idea in cold climate. I appreciate the information--thanks vtl. Here in Canada the Volvo radiator lists at $670... one-third of that I could stomach. Just under $300: https://www.tascap...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
We are moving to a new place. All my car tools are still in my old garage. Today I drove on a battery down there to replace a dead alternator. I had it rebuilt a few years back, but it started acting up a year ago and died completely a few weeks ago. Have no time to figure out what did I do wrong, d...

Re: P2 PCV Service banjo bolt solved lessons learned 31325709
Remove PS pump, unbolt and shift aside alternator. Adds maybe 10 minutes to the job, but then you have the best access to the dreaded banjo bolt.

Re: Oil around turbo /// 2006 s60 2.5t
One of: - worn turbo - stuck or worn piston rings allow blow-by gases in crankcase Any ways I can test for either one at home? Remove turbo intake pipe, wiggle turbo by hands. If the cartridge is short, it will blow oil into intake. Also pay attention to PTC nipple. If it's covered with oil and the...
