Re: 98 S70 T5: Mechanic's Findings
Update: Was forced to have a mechanic replace the links. Aside from the expense, kind of glad some one else did it. He said "they came out in pieces" and it took "12 hours" to remove both (and yes he has the puller tool). He also replaced "an evap hose" because it crumb...

Re: P80 "bastards" thermostat access (1999-2000)
You were too frightened to tighten the clamp because you bought one of those holy types; the ones that chew up hoses. Over here the auto stores sell those to the unsuspecting traveller. I am lucky enough to have a water/pool accessories store that sells these beautiful stainless solid clamps close t...

Re: V70 VERY bad oil leak
Even though your car is non-turbo there is a machined hole for the turbocharger's oil return line.
This hole is capped and that cap can come off. I've seen pictures so it must be true.
There was a p/n for the cap in the post I read.
That's all I have. Kira

Re: P2 Clutch job - any inputs/experience/advice
You need something to hold up the engine and a helper to line up the tranny assy on re-assembly but it's doable

Re: Help me figure this one out. Electrical issue 2000 V70r
Don't rule out the ignition switch. Hands down, it's the most common thing on these cars to cause the kind of problem that you've described. Next in line ( and MUCH less often } are your accessory overload relays. There are the two that handle most of the extra things that don't run through the igni...

$15 Cargo Cover for V70 DIY
My recently acquired 1998 V70 did not come with a retractable cargo cover. I have seen cargo covers for 2001 and later V70s, but none for mine. These things also seem to be priced awfully high for what is essentially a window shade. Well, anyway, I don't have a garage and have been working on the ca...

Re: P2 clutch job..hanging the engine
Are you sure you would need two hangers? Put the HF tool in between the two (Fore and Aft) and the chains will balance them out evenly distributing the weight. On the V70 I used just one HF hanger. I used two however on the XC90 but that's because the engine is a V8 and huge.

Re: P2 clutch job..hanging the engine
I don't honestly remember 100% if I dropped the sub frame or not. sorry. I recall the manual trans being just not that big and not that heavy when compared to the automatic I pulled. Also The HF hanger comes with the chains so you wont need any other hanging parts. I also used a cheap crank up Trans...
