Re: 2001 s60 running problem
When you mentioned the brake booster not functioning as it should it triggered a recent memory of a part I've replaced (a week ago). https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-booster-vacuum-ejector-s60-v70-xc70-s80-xc90-genuine-volvo-30665561 Car ran like utter crap, (braking was horrible too) if the h...

Re: 2001 s60 running problem
Having had many encounters with failed ignition coils, I'm going to say that is your last concern. Were it an ignition coil you'd feel it most prominently under acceleration, not lifting off the go-pedal. Also, symptoms of a failed coil are constant, not intermittent. You will eventually run into a ...

Re: 2001 Volvo S60 Ignition coil fell apart
I just had this exact same experience on the 01 V70XC I just bought for my mother in law. It had failed, & was one of the no-name/part # coils you always see on eBay/Amazon for a really great price. Rubber boot stayed (partially) attached to the plug, the rest ripped away & then once out the...

Re: Should I do the water pump while at it ?
The water pumps generally do have a pretty long lifespan. I just replaced an original one on a car with 262k miles, clean, dry (no evidence of weep hole leak) & the bearing still felt great. Very easy to do, find the nipple (protrudes off of a hard coolant line) on the rear of the engine, above ...

Re: Car locks itself. Wiring or Module?
It's been a long time since I rummaged through a junkyard. Gonna need to find where they are these days. Anyone have a favorite in the Mpls-St.Paul area? I have tried many of the scrapyards around here & have come up with almost nothing for P2 stuff. That being said, there is a place in Glencoe...

Re: 01 V70 coolcant requirement and recommendation
Zerex G-05 is the correct alternative to Volvo coolant. It is yellow, just like what appears to be in your reservoir. Usually runs around $17-18/gallon. The prediluted & full concentration bottles are easily mistaken, so just be sure of what you have before you dump it in. Edit: I’ve usually pai...

Re: Thoughts on this leak? with photo!
Congratulations! Don't forget to plug in your knock sensors. Keeping that stub shaft polished is really important when it comes time to reinstall. I'm guessing your TC stub shaft wasn't nestled up all the way in, even though bolted all the way around the flex plate. That plate really can flex quite ...

Re: 2006 V70 ball joints
Are you having steering abnormalities? Just curious what is prompting you to “redo the front end”. I’ve always just left the ball joint bolted to the control arm. Then back out the two 13mm bolts from the knuckle. Using a heavy duty ratchet strap or come-along, tie the distal end of both control arm...

Re: 2006 V70 rear swaybar endlinks ?
Bizarre, Sorry if I mislead you. I have yet to work on an NA FWD only P2. Whether you look up the B5244S or B5244S6 the same end links are populated. So there is NO sway bar present at all? Edit: I just spent a couple hours under our 04 V70AWD today and was debating on replacing the rear sway bar du...

Re: 2006 V70 rear swaybar endlinks ?
Your off-roading capabilities are much better without a sway bar. It's your call. It won't ride much stiffer, maybe a hint. Less body roll when cornering. I doubt you push the car through corners though. That's a good looking car by the way. Those wheels look great on V70's in my opinion, have them ...
