Re: XC70 riding too low with new Sachs front struts and springs
I'd be willing to bet they put in V70 struts. I bought an 06 XC70 a couple years ago. It had been "serviced" just prior to me purchasing it & the "tech" had replaced the drivers front strut. They charged the PO $300 for the "new strut" & another $200 to install ...

Cam seals, crank seal, oil pump seal/gasket & VVT hub replacement notes
2004 2.5T XC70 - 279,000 miles. I typed this up a couple weeks ago. Please let me know if there are any corrections I need to make. I had a decent oil leak, & this is what happened after some investigation. This is a pretty well documented topic so sorry for repeat information, but there's a goo...

Re: Oil pan gasket replacement
Bad O-rings wouldn’t be the first thing I’d look at for a tapping/ticking. Might want to get a stethoscope to zero in on where it’s coming from to gauge importance/severity. Have you been underneath it to look for leaks? Are you sure it’s not a knock? There isn’t a gasket that seals the oil pan to t...

Re: 2005 V70 Tailgate Open Warning Light
<r>Usually it’s the big black ground wire has busted as seen below, left side tailgate hinge area. I tried to read Ryann’s post but didn’t make it through. <br/> <br/> Make sure after you put in a new section of wire that the bundle is routed correctly. Improper routing is why these break in the fir...

Re: 2002 V70 seat swap
....we got the X/C model in order to go snow boarding in the mountains, which are covered in snow.. Now it all makes sense. I had no idea the former required the latter. Nor did I realize heated seats were a prerequisite for snow, or have I got that backwards, as well as the above? Whatever you do,...

Re: Where do I plug in my block heater?
Yours may not have one. Supposedly it was a factory option, although I’ve never been lucky enough to see one. VTL knows much more & will probably chime in. I add oil pan heaters to all our cars. https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/kat-s-silicone-hot-pad-heater/0000000047517 I measured dip stick tem...

Re: Long trip prep? ('04 XC)
I was gonna say if your steering doesn’t wander/bump steer (or side load affect steering) leave the control arms alone til the next time you have the struts out. Since you said steering is affected I’d go ahead & replace them. Not a bad job, easily doable in a weekend, hopefully you don’t have y...

Re: '04 V70 2,5T engine turn over, but won't start
I’d start with a basic ELM327 type Bluetooth scanner & run it through your phone or tablet. Veepeak BLE OBD2 device & OBD Fusion app for IOS, Konnwei KW902 & Torque app for Android devices are the ones I use, very inexpensive & informative. No replacement for ViDA, but a darn good st...

Re: Wheel Bearing? Hit curb now there's noise!
If it's/they've never been replaced, I'd say it was just hanging on by a thread & the curb was the straw that broke the camels back. They tend to make noise at 150-160k mile intervals, in my experience.
