Re: 2004 XC90 T6 Engine swap?

Without changing all sorts of electronics, harnesses, modules, transmission and drivetrain ... your only option is another 2.9T. Realistically that is your only choice. The 2.9 is a great engine. Why did yours overheat and can you just replace the head gasket? I did a head on a 2.9 non-turbo on a 20...

Re: Winter Mode

Good call pixeldust. Thinking back that was the approach I first tried, although I actually opened up the button to do the cleaning. Simple enough process.

Re: How do this cylinder walls look?

I think you would be better off sourcing an used engine, assuming you can do the pull and replace. Too much risk that the pistons are cooked, not to mention damage to the bottom end. Price wise it will be close plus you will have no worries. On my 2.9 NA, it had a slow leak which apparently ran for ...

Re: Timing Belt Help!!

Just move the cams back to the correct positions. VIDA instructions, as I recall, have one move the cams forward and then backwards to get the VVT hub loaded -- meaning you can move the cams backwards. Since the belt is not on the crank position will not be changed.

Re: 2007 S60 Headlight double trouble.

Take the headlight out - it is super easy. Remove the bulb and see what you have access to from the back. On my 2004 S80 I had a similar issue and was able to repair it from the bulb access. As it is so easy to remove it makes no sense to force anything without looking first. Better safe than sorry....

Re: New head, setting CVVT or not?

Two things: 1) You must use the cam cover that came with the new head. You CANNOT use the original cam cover - cam covers are married to the head. Donor head and Donor cam cover. NOT donor head Original cam cover. 2) You should be able to use the cam that came with the new head, it is preferable as ...

Re: code P0420 fixed w/Oxygen Sensor O2 Sensor Extender

loveMy850 - post a picture. You may be able to replace the pin or just hard wire a bypass. Picture will help with the best solution. As to the O2 sensor extender - I had a set on the shelf so I tried them out on my X5 while I waited for my replacement cats to arrive. It didn't work. When I put the n...

Re: Removing 2nd Row middle seat - Seat belt Problem

You sure you cannot move the left seat by normal means and right portion just right? That said look up fuel pump repair - the seats need to be removed for that operation. You will find write ups and videos. It may be possible to just attack the anchor bolt - I don't recall how the seat folds - three...

Re: How stiff are window slider blocks supposed to be??

I think you know the answer. If you have a difficult time turning it the window motor will have the same issue. It shouldn't be butter easy, but it shouldn't be you need a channel lock and serious force. Window motors are pretty big and have some serious gears - they can crank out some torque (nice ...

Re: Oil recommendation

Some more advice - every gas fill or two pull the oil stick and check the color of the oil as well as its level. This will give you an idea on whether the engine has been properly maintained. It should remain pretty clean for at least 1000 miles, so 3-5 gas fills. Level should not really drop. After...
