I usually use the triangular plate that secures the front subframe to lift it, and in the rear that red arrowed spot pictured above.

wasn't there an easy method to measure the exhaust temp before and after the cat with an IR Thermometer? if the difference is too high, the cat is blocked.

Re: 1996 Volvo 850 (Base) Vacuum Hose Inquiry
I think they were 4 or 5mm from the factory, and 3/16 is right in between, so you should be good with that. I think all vacum hoses except the large one for the crank ventilation are the same diameter.

Re: crossroads
After a few weeks of consideration and reading all your comments, talking to the master mechanic at my local Volvo dealer and hearing my 12 year old say: "I knew it was you coming home, I heard you long before I saw the headlights ..." I decided to stick with what I've got. For long trips,...

The center console is easy to get out. If you own one of these, I'd keep body panels, doors, headlights, taillights and alot o...

My first Volvo 850 memory dates back to a ski trip with a friend's 850 and me falling asleep in the backseat and waking up because my backnwas super hot. 25 years I have multiple 850ies but no rear heated seats
