It is possible the mechanism inside your shift knob is broken. You can press the button but it will not pull up the release rod. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. They are easy to change and you can get a good used one on Ebay for $40-$50.

I just did mine over the weekend, have been using Car Guys for 3 years. It works really well if you follow the instructions and apply it when the temps are above 70F or so. You will need to replace your shifter knob- very easy 5 minute job. Something breaks inside and it will not actuate the release rod to get it out of park. At least that's what it was in my case.

It should work. You will have to reprogram the driver door module for the window to work properly most likely.

Is the noise your ABS pump engaging? Your traction control could be coming on as the result of a bad wheel sensor or ring perhaps? The sway bar end link will make a knocking sound over bumps but not much more.

Have you ever had the PCV system serviced? That can make a sound like this when it is getting blocked up.

I am pretty sure the parking lights stay on all the time by default. It's a Volvo safety thing.
