Re: Loud clicking noise on idle
@02V70 Did you ever find out what caused the ticking noise? My Volvo is doing the same thing. 2009 Volvo S60. Yes, It was the belt tensioner. I have no idea why it was making that noise, but replacing it and the pulley that was on it fixed the issue. I noticed the pulley on the original tensioner w...

Re: 2004 XC70 - problem with hi beam switch and sluggish at take-off
I had a problem with the high-beam relay that is under the dash. My high beams would only work intermittently, but once they were on they wouldn't turn off themselves. Replacing the relay fixed the problem.

Can you post a photo? If your car has no problems, it might be normal.

Re: My experiencing replacing the AC clutch pulley bearing on '04 V70
I had the same problem with the bad bearing clicking noise when the AC compressor turned on. In my case it was the serpentine belt tensioner that was going bad and made the noise. I'm not quite sure why the noise was more prominent with the ac compressor on. Maybe since it is right next to it, it wa...

Re: 06 XC70 - A strange thing happened......!
I have jacked up the car with just left wheels on the ground, just right, just rear and just front, and have not had this happen afterward. I have however, had a few random times when that car would be hard to start.

If you have an autozone near you, you can rent a similar axle popper and get your money refunded on return.

Re: CV Joints to avoid?? (2005 V70)
I have also had good results with TRQ and have installed those CV axles 5k miles ago.
They are quite cheap at $150 for both, and have lifetime warranty. Longevity is unknown and probably isn't great, but when I researched, I did not find any reports of TRQ axles failing.

Re: VIDA and DICE availability ?
You can get VIDA from here: https://volvodiag.com/download/ for 5$ I have gotten from there and confirm it works. As for dice, I got a Mongoose knockoff cable for $40. The specific listing I got is not available anymore, but there are similar (the same?) items still listed https://www.ebay.com/sch/i...

You can get "high mileage" synthetic oil which has some chemicals that prevent the seals from leaking. If you have been using synthetic for awhile with no leaks, you will be fine.

Re: Infamous ignition tumbler problem, now "Start Prevented Try Again"
I had the same problem. It was the antenna ring. I was able to get a used one on ebay for $30 to replace it with.
Part numbers 8621509 and 8673073 should both work. My car had the latter one and was replaced with the first one. They both seem to be identical.
