Re: 2003 S80 T6 VVT setting help ps
It's very easy to not set the VVT right if following the guide out of a repair manual (kind of confusing). Bottom line is that with the timing marks all aligned correctly...loosen the three outer bolts to the VVT cam wheel and turn the center torque nut fully clockwise as far as it will go then tigh...

Re: Cylinder Head Warpage and Torque Specs?
Not sure on warpage limit, but if I was concerned I'd take it to a machine shop and have it milled. If i remember correctly the torque specs were 14NM, 45NM then turn all 130 degrees.

Re: Code Errors after Timing belt change ---Are they related
With those two codes, I highly suspect the variable valve timing is not set correctly. It the timing belt/gears were way off it would have eaten intake valves as soon as it was started the first time. It's very easy to not set the VVT right if following the guide out of a repair manual (kind of conf...

Re: Removing heater core
No, you don't need to remove the retaining rings in the engine bay. -Remove the upper "kick panel" (by your knees if driving). -Remove the thin/long side panel along side the center hump. -Remove the brake light switch by pushing a screwdriver directly up into the center release lock, rock...

Re: Setting S80 VVT
Done! Making sure the VVT timing was cranked over clockwise fully (despite any other vague instructions I came across) then locking down the outer gear made the p0014 code go away. There's nothing like experience of going through something like this to get to the bottom of how it's really done. Than...

Re: Setting S80 VVT
Boosted5cyl: Now that's what I'm looking for! I searched everywhere trying to figure out exactly where do they want the inner pully/VVT unit to actually end up. Of course it would be too simple for them to just say "make sure the VVT unit is cranked over to the full clockwise position then line...

Setting S80 VVT
Ok, need some clarification on setting the VVT. I've set it by the database write up here and get code P0014 (to far advanced). I also have Vadis and got a copy of the dealership method used faxed to me from a Volvo dealer. They are all different to some extent. So my questions are: Is this correct....

Re: S80 sputtering, won't accelerate
Check the intake plenum tube (big one) going into the bottom of the intake manifold, the one with the sensors in it. If it has come loose at intake manifold it will act exactly as you describe. Had this happen and it left me scratching my head until I happened upon it.

new valves, no start
Long story short: Replaced all the intake valves. Cam/crank marks lined up great when putting back together. Rotated engine by hand and all was well so I buttoned it back up. Cranks but will not start. Another mechanic I know thinks its the cam followers that are dry, thus not opening the valves eno...

Re: 2002 S80 2.9 ( One Of the Injectors is not giving signal
Clarify a bit...Injector or spark plug? How do you know this? Did it throw a code? It's not uncommon for a coil to fail, and they sit right on top of the spark plug so they are easy to change. Swap the #6 with #5 and see if the problem follows, then you'll know you need a new coil. If its an injecto...
