Re: 2001 s40- sway bar bushing replacement- is this easy
If it's the front one have someone do it. Pain in the butt. Have to drop the sub-frame. Replace both sides at once.

Re: 2001 S40 Misfire problem
Plug coils go bad causing this problem. I had same thing. Fixed by replacing the coil. If you replace one at a time you can figure which was the bad one (if you only want to buy 1 new one). Mine was only missing at WOT.

Re: Synthetic Oil vs. Regular Oil, which is better?
Use sythetic oil but with a few ounces of AutoRx. The syn oil tends to dry out rubber seals.
The AutoRx has lanolin and conditions the seals. Don't laugh, it works. I also run my syn oil
to 10K miles which makes up for the cost diffrence in oil.

Re: fault code 0172, system too rich bank 1
I got this code when a hose broke going to the idle air control valve broke.
Other symptoms included bad idle at first start and lack of turbo boost.
Fixing the hose fixed all the problems.

Re: S40 suspension clunk/knock
I've had both of the sway bar bushings break. Each time a loud clunk can be heard. If only one side breaks as it usually does, the clunk will disappear when going around a curve. When my left side broke it didn't cluck when going around right corners/curves. I believe there was a recall on these sin...

Clunk/Click when backing up.
I'm hearing and feeling a clunk every time I back out of the driveway or a parking spot. I recently had a sway bar bushing break and had new control arms and strut and engine mounts replaced. I figured the clunk would go away with all this work but it's still there. The Volvo shop checked the motor ...

Re: S40 missing under acceleration
The MAP sensor and coil on #3 cylinder was bad. When I replaced the MAP sensor it got rid of the rough idle and low speed problems. Still had missing under WOT. Replaced the plugs but no help. Replaced the coils and now it's all good!

Re: S40 missing under acceleration
Been reading in other forums that the P0237 code usually means a bad MAP sensor. Going to try replacing that along with the boost controller. Will report back when it is replaced.

S40 missing under acceleration
I have a 2002 Volvo S40 with 135K miles. Until recently the engine has been great with an average of 30MPG. The last month or so under full throttle, the car has started missing and sometimes the check engine light is blinking but no codes are stored. In the last week it has gotten worse and sometim...

Re: 2003 volvo s40 - creaking
My creaking especially over speed bump wass cause but the suspension arm bushings. Sprayed some silicone on them but no help. Gonna try the WD-40 route next.
