Re: 1998 s70 p0563 System voltage high
So I went to put everything back together and a connector for the fan relay came apart...I'm not sure which wire goes to which side.
Anyone know of some wiring diagrams? Looking g for the fan relay specifically.

Thank you. These were my thoughts as well. I will repair the ground but did not think it was the root cause.

Re: 1998 s70 p0563 System voltage high
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the battery get grounded to the block and also the chassis?
I ordered a new regulator for $40 and also a new water temp sensor, as it was leaking down the wires and onto the alternator.
the alternator is a bosch 100amp
Thanks,
Chris

Re: 1998 s70 p0563 System voltage high
Looking at them they are like $140 and a whole new alternator is like $180. Usually a new voltage regulator is $20-$40.
Are they made from unobtanium?

Re: 1998 s70 p0563 System voltage high
it's been off for like 5-8 years...doubt it would randomly start causing me problems now. For ha ha's I will ground it. It sounds like the voltage regulator to me...just looking for opinions

1998 s70 p0563 System voltage high
The CEL went on while driving, so I checked it when I got back figuring it would be a returning code of bank 1 or 2 too rich. I checked the battery with the car running and it was hovering around 16.28 - 16.30. When the fan kicked on, it dropped down to 15.xx. The alternator was replaced a few years...

I doused it with some clorox cleaner before i put it back in. i guess i will try the dishwasher trick. hopefully my dishwasher won't smell like coolant afterwards!
