Managed to Charge the battery. Vehicle runs smoothly with MAF sensor disconnected. Once connected, the vehicle jecks badly and stall . I am making arrangements to purchase MAF sensor. Now the battery has died. Left the vehicle with the MAF sensor connected. Nothing was left on and all I find is a dead battery the following morning.

Doesn't the Car's electronics tell you if the MAF sensor is bad? On the error code, I got the 042 after trying to reset the "engine system maintenance required" error .

You are right. I think volvo is quite sensitive. I have cleaned filters this way before. For other models . such as Honda & Toyota, this is no problem. Let me see what happens when I clean the MAF sensor.
