Re: .No Sound(static only) from radio
Option 1: You could send your radio to a repair company - this will cost you about $160 - $175 and they might actually fix it. Option 2: Go to eBay and enter "volvo 816" in the search field (without the quotes). I just checked, as of this writing there are 37 units available (there are als...

Re: 93 Volvo 850 engine revs high by itself
jreidko - it looks to me like your Throttle Position Sensor has failed. I missed reattaching mine while putting things together after doing a PCV job. The TPS on my N/A engine is difficult to see - its underneath the throttle body and I didn't notice the plug lying loose. Anyway, when I started the ...

Re: Engine Service Required - What Might This Mean?
Most service shops - and some auto supply stores - will plug a reader into your car and tell you the codes and what they mean. Jot the codes down and search for them here and on Google. If you are told you have a "455 code" you would search for information about it by searching for "P...

Re: E Brake question
I figured it out - you need a Torx T-50 socket to adjust the Brakes. I bought a standard socket, and with my 3/8" driver it just fits into the opening.

Re: E Brake question
I have read all of the (numerous) discussions on MVS on the topic of checking, repairing and adjusting E brakes. Last night I installed new shoes and did a few other maintenance tasks while I had things open. This was pretty easy since I was armed with all the info from MVS. One thing to mention - t...

Re: Source for dash bulbs?
Check this out...it's right on this site. I bought the Honda bulbs - they aren't quite as bright but they fit ok. They have been working fine for over a year.

Re: Road trip
Back to the noise from your "rear rotors". You have done a lot of work on your brakes and and tried some tests...what about your rear wheel bearings? They might be shot. Jack up your vehicle and give the wheel a spin, listen carefully.

Re: Large PCV Hose Broke-off
My mother always told me: "Don't put off till tomorrow what can be done today". For variety she would say: "There's no time like the present". She didn't know a thing about Volvos, but she was very wise. I would follow my mother's advice. Call up FCP, mention MVS for the discount...
