I do believe it is something internal to the ecc, as the compressor has started kicking on and off in coincidence with the “aut” light’s flickering on the compressor switch. Seems shorted.

I guess my next question would be-
Is there a write up on temporarily ...

I just bought a 95’ n/a 850. Having issues sorting out the culprit on why my HVAC fan and compressor work, at best, intermittently.
Sometimes, I will start the vehicle and everything works as it should. Air blows cold. Then, it will either stop all together or sort of stutter and blow a bit, then ...

OK here is my experience:

As people posted above, the circlip is accessible in a recess and I just had to rotate the joint, I saw it right away when I went back to the job:

For removal of the outer CV, it wasn't going anywhere when I banged on it pretty hard without ...

Usually that issue is caused by a bad fuel tank sending unit in the tank. Kind of a PITA to get at but not terribly tough. Found this utube that may be helpful:

Haven't looked at the schematic but typically the sending unit is just a variable rheostat ...

My low tone horn went out on my 850 recently so was looking for replacement. Always perceived the stock horns as adequate so tried some from a PnP car but they didn't work either, so started researching aftermarket horns.

Yeah, that's the driver air bag clock-spring. I needed one recently and scored one from local PnP; it was perfectly intact. That copper ring around the perimeter is for your horn button. Didn't realize it also clicks off your turn signal..?

Would think these would pop up on ebay but don't see any ...

Have a '96 850 T5 wagon (mine) and '98 S70 (hers), but I imagine this fix may be applicable to a lot of Volvo models and MYs..
