Wow...what a mess. Amazing how cars rust up North.
Thanks for the pics.

Re: That rattling is driving me nuts ...
Thanks. I'll hang in there. About to order new front end parts and loads of dynamat to get the noise level down (has helped on the tailgate so far, it closes with a very nice 'thud' now.). Use caution with a heavy material on the tailgate as putting too much weight there will really stress the tail...

Re: Sluggish off the line and worse in hot weather
Perhaps you pinched a seal or vacuum hose or connector didn't fully seat, causing a vacuum leak. I recall RSPI warning people about intake manifold gasket leaks and the havoc they wreck.

Re: 98 v70 gas gauge
I recently pulled mine, disassembled it and inspected it because it was 'sticking' at times when low. It would indicate less gas than there actually was (fortunately...). I gently smoothed/polished all of the sliding parts. It's been fine since. You'll need a wiring diagram to follow it. 850's shoul...

Re: Current thinking on best axel boots?
I wouldn't use Rein. Search my thread on front axle removal to do boots! The passenger outer tore (may have hit something?!). I've been putting it off though I do have a GKN boot.

I think I used hot glue.
You could also use Sonneborne NP-1. Problem is you could never remove them again.

Re: 1999 AC job. Rein over nissens, adjustable orfice valve
A TXV would fix all of this. I can tell when in traffic the condenser gets heat-soaked, even with RECIRC on (which it always is here). The refrigerant is still a vapor at the orfice. Much like a spray can when it gets empty; rather than spraying ingredient in a nice pattern, it just 'spits'. I'd adv...

Re: 98 V70, T5 Power Steering Leak: Wrong ATF?
99 cars call for a different type of fluid as the pump/PS changed from 98. AT205 works great for leaky racks. BTDT. Over time the PS reservoir will 'weep'. You'll think you have a leak. And you do, sort of.

Re: Engine Sludge: Any Updated Fix?
Don't understand why engine flushes are verboten on turbo cars as some claim. No problems here. It's not just the turbo I'm worried about. I'm wary of flushes on any higher mileage engine that hasn't been flushed at least once in a while from new. If too much chunky crap thats built up come loose a...
