Re: New here, new to Volvo. 2001 V70 T5

And I thought I'd just follow up. This car was the biggest waste of money in my life. I had to continually dump money into it starting the day I bought it; I took care of everything as recommended and then experienced engine damage that caused me to have to sell for scrap value. Worst car decision I...

Hey beetlebob, can you link me up with the harness you mention? I cannot seem to find that part. Thank you!

Re: Signs of a failing ETM and its relation to the MAF senso

Just a quick followup / crosspost of some great information from another thread. AutoPartsDeal.com sells new MAF assemblies for $31.14 (REPV316708) which, if you cross reference that part, cross references to the proper Bosch part number. Just Google that part number, and you will see the same MAF i...

AutoPartsDeal.com sells new MAF assemblies for $31.14 (REPV316708) which, if you cross reference that part, cross references to the proper Bosch part number. Just Google that part number, and you will see the same MAF is used on several Volvo models and engines, in fact. Bob, that is awesome. For t...

Re: can I find out if dealer changed the ETM and when ?

I had a really long & productive conversation with a rep at Volvo USA yesterday regarding my soon-to-expire 10 year/200k ETM warranty. He had all those details. I just called the 800 number on the Volvo web site. Guy was really helpful and honest, gave me good advice on how to interact with my d...

Just a quick followup on removing the MAF from the hose.. You just gotta yank it off of there, don't be gentle. It's hard to get leverage, and heating up the hose a little bit helps. Great advice from another thread: "You just gotta get mad and pull it off." On mine, only a couple years ol...

Re: Persistent P0121 and P1238

Just a followup for posterity's sake.

Replaced MAF sensor. All these problems went away.

MAF sensor

I gotta say, I beat up my dealer pretty bad trying to get them to honor my ETM warranty on the eve of its expiration, they tried all day to get it to fail their testing and couldn't. I've been having many of the symptoms related to a failing ETM for a long time. (Terrible idle, stalling, unresponsiv...

This is the best advice right here. After 15 minutes of frustration trying to pull it off, this post empowered me to just go out there and rip that fool thing off of there. First try. :-)

Persistent P0121 and P1238

Symptoms: - very rough idle most of the time. stalls at idle, especially on warm start. - "throbbing" idle often when starting car. 400 to 1500 RPM about once per second. - inconsistent throttle response. occasionaly, gas pedal is totally non-responsive when starting car. in general, feels...
