Tyres Why is it dangerous to inflate beyond 40 psi?
I just bought some Yokohama c.drive tyres. The tyre has written on it "Danger do not inflate beyond 40psi to seat beads" I was told at a driver instruction course that it is best to have tyres inflated much higher than the recommended amount because the recommended amount is only for comfo...

Which tyres are best (I have 2 in mind)
I'm an Aussie looking for good new tyres for around $600 (4 tyres fitted and balanced). I mainly drive on suburban roads and want the safest tyres I can get for this cost. I phoned up a few tyre places. I was recommended Michelin Energy XM1, Goodyear NCT5 and Yokohama C drive. From research on the n...

best tyres
I live in Australia and have to replace my tyres soon. I mainly drive on freeways and suburban roads. It is possible I may drive on unsealed roads occasionally. I want good safe tyres but don't want to go "overboard" and get low profile tyres that will cause my speedo to give a false readi...

flame trap is it true it can't really be removed?
After talking to people on this forum and consulting with Volvo I decided to ask my mechanic to remove the flame trap. He said he noticed the flame trap was cracked so he replaced it and got rid of the filter part of it so that it does not have to be cleaned to prevent clogging up. He said the flame...

internal light button felll off
As 850 owners all know, the internal light has 3 buttons. The middle button of mine fell off so that the light can't be turned on anymore. I'm not a handyman and I'm not sure if it is the type of thing a mechanic can fix. Where would I go to have it fixed? What sort of price would I need to pay? Is ...

flickering warning lights
Various warning lights flicker while driving. They flicker such a short time its hard to know which ones they are while driving. I think one of them is the bulb replacement warning light but not aware of any blown bulbs. Since the warning lights are only flickering occasionally I'm assuming all is o...

bloody Volvo drivers!
I'm an Aussie recent purchaser of a Volvo 850. It is certainly a big improvement over my aging 1987 Nissan Pulsar. I guess my main concern now is feeling comfortable about drinving round in a totally different car. I've heard the anti-Volvo thing is much more cutting and aggressive in Australia than...

windscreen wipers and sprayer
On my car the wipers don't work as well on drivers (right hand in Australia) side. This reduces visibility. It is as if the wiper is not fully pressed against the windscreen causing a smudging effect. Is this easy to fix? How can they be adjusted? Also when I pull the lever forward to spray the wind...

tyres
My car came with Sumitomo tyres on the front and Optimo K406 Hankook tyres on the rear. The Sumitomos are 195/60R 15 88H but can't see anything else written on them on what type of Sumitomo they are. Can someone please tell me how good quality these tyres are? Are the rear ones good enough to be mov...
