Faulty Trip Computer?
I recently had the turbo replaced on a 1995 850 along with two oxygen sensors. I don't believe the battery was ever disconnected as the radio worked after I picked it up from the repair shop. I live about a half hour from the shop and the trip speed is usually 55 to 60mph all the way home. Toward th...

Re: 850 Burning Oil
Thanks so much for all of your advice. In response to a comment by Klausc, I do get most of the smoke when I take my foot off the gas or when I accelerate just after having my foot off the gas. I will try some of the additives/synthetic oil recommended and have my local garage do the referenced leak...

850 Burning Oil
Greetings and Happy New Year to all. I have a 1995 850 Turbo that is burning oil but not all the time. It seems worst just after I start up and contnues for a about 3 to 5 miles. The discharge is standard blue smoke. After that it either reduces considerably or stops burning oil completely until I s...

'95 850 Turbo stalls at sustained highway speeeds
I believe this subject has been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere and I have read some of the posts but I have yet to read a solution found. My '95 850 Turbo (185K miles) drives wonderfully on secondary roads but will stall on occasion at sustained highway speeds. I should mention the car sat outside u...

850 AC Compressor jump start
I have been told my air conditioner is completely out of freon and as a result the compressor will not activate. The compressor was checked and it does operate properly. In the Haynes manual description, they indicate that the compressor must be running when refridgerent is added so it is necessary ...

Re: Is a V70 Turbo repair realistic for newbie?
Hi Andrew, Thanks so much for your post and it's nice to hear from someone else in CT. I am up in Plainfield. It wasn't a matter of getting rid of the 850 - I love it - in favor of the V70. I was thinking I would replace my older Subaru and have two Volvos. That said, what else is wrong with the 850...

850 Turbo OBD2 code PO137
My check engine light is on and my OBD2 reader shows a PO137 (02 Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1, Sensor 2). Any ideas on what this is and how it might be repaired? If I clear the code, the check engine light comes back on in a few days with the same code. I should note the car sat outside unused for a y...

Re: Is a V70 Turbo repair realistic for newbie?
Thank you all so much for your considered and timely replies. I have decided to pass on the V70 and concentrate my efforts on the 850 I currently have. As someone who has little experience working on cars, my fear is that I might find myself in over my head and after spending X amount of money, stil...

Is a V70 Turbo repair realistic for newbie?
Greetings, I recently acquired a 1995 850 Turbo and have fallen in love with Volvo. I did have to put a fair amount of money into it and am pretty well tapped out at this point. So here’s the question: There is a V70 GLT for sale locally at a very reasonable price (asking $1200 but would probably ta...
