you are covered for the ETM problem multiple times if within the 10yrs/200,00 0 mile limit. There should be no dealer charge for the diagnosis/service. There was a recall for that fan problem for my 2000 S80. Not sure if it applied to your car too. Ask the dealer about that too if you never had a re...

Arthur, Sorry, but there is no easy way to replace the MM unit with the Bosch. The design philosohy and the interface to the Engine Control Module would, at a mininum, require replacent of the ECM. You had a Bosch unit go bad. I know of no reports of design defects in that unit. It is a very differe...

Fishfool, We need more info from you. Which Volvo, year, model? Did the problem repeat or was it one solid failure? Was the code reset and then reoccurred? For an S80 T6, there is a dealer procedure posted by Don Willson here: http://www.vexedvolvo.org/ which tells the dealer to follow the 901E code...

My tendency would be to believe the original dealer diagnosis, ETM, and follow your plan to beat on them and Volvo over that. MAF failure has unique codes. With MAF disconnected and ETM failing, you have two interdependent engine components running on special (substitute) code and interacting. Who k...
