Ozbricks forum has an item from the book published by Volvo "The Volvo 850 Story" it gives all the engine specs, doesn't mention SOHC just DOHC so don't know where that one came from, I actually have a copy of that book, I'll do some checking up and post it.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Volvo/Porsche or whoever it was, came up with the setup to ease the load on all the pulleys involved, the later 70 series actually dropped one of the pulleys completely.

Fold the seats flat and access via the rear doors makes it lot easier to work, from what I recall a bit of the old heave ho is needed to remove the panels they just clip in and out, I don't think you have to remove the 3rd seat back, just leave it folded flat in place, been quite a while since I did...

JRL and others are right on... but it is actually the electrical part of the ignition switch that fails. This part is available seperately from the entire lock assembly, and can be fixed in situ by just dropping the panel... and with some patience you can remove and replace those screws that hold i...

850 Sump "O" ring replacement.

Due a couple of noisy lifters that have devloped and cost of replacing same I am considering replacing the sump "O" rings as this is also considered as a major cause of such noises, has anyone done it, if so what is involved, anything major to watch out for, problems etc.

I did a post (can't find it now though) a while ago re the same type of noise from the rear n/s (RHD) brake on my car espec in reverse, turned out to be a buildup of brake dust jamming against the drum because the previous owner had the handbrake drum adjusted up way too much, pulled both sides clea...
