Re: Power driver seat not working 1995 960

It looks like that part number fits 850's S/V 90, S/V/C 70 back to '96 but not the 960. Look at this link: http://www.volvowholesaleparts.com/parts/index.cfm?action=oePartSearch&siteid=213784&make=Volvo&year=&model=&submodel=&searchText=9174906&startRow=101&maxRow=10 ...

Re: 240 wheels & spare tire sizes for 1989

According to my parts book the part number for the black sheetmetal wheel 1989-1993 is 1387623. I have a feeling the 14X 5.5 steel wheels back to 1975 would probably work as well. Mounting on the old spare wheel rim wouldn't work as it will be too narrow for the tires you have. When you check out a ...

Re: Keep Going or Move On?

You have come up against a common dilemma. Does one keep spending on this car or spend more on a new (or newer) car? The problem with repairing this one is that you are unsure what it might do to you next (and how much it will cost). Maybe one thought to consider is shopping for another 240 that has...

Re: 1994 940 Non-Turbo Not Shifting into Overdrive

Before digging into anything major you may wish to double check the relay situation. If you have access to another car in which to test the replacement relay you could establish that it works, or failing that, remove the cover and inspect the contacts and solder joints. I have had the situation wher...

Thank you for taking a stand on this issue. The pleasure of using this site has always been enhanced by the civility and clarity of communication. This was brought home to me by my visit to another Volvo oriented site that had numerous posts utilizing English words but lacking grammar, spelling, and...

Re: For sale: 1999 S70 AWD Mpls/St. Paul, MN

At least in Minnesota there are no longer emissions tests so the Check Engine Light may not be the factor that it would be in California. The car is gorgeous, and low miles, and red to boot! I won't be showing this ad to my wife any time soon!

Re: 740GL 1990 Stalling

The fuel pump relay is a very plausible culprit with those symptoms. Your description matches my experience in my 1990 740 and 1993 940. If you don't mind experimenting, you might try leaving the ashtray out and the box above the ashtray out, and when it stalls the next time snap the fuel pump relay...

Re: What type of DIY'er are you?

I have never needed to rebuild a Volvo engine or head. When I first started driving Volvos I got a core engine with the idea of rebuilding at my leisure preparing for what I thought would be the inevitable. It hasn't happened yet. You might ask why was I so concerned about having a spare motor ready...

Never mind the last question. I see where you mentioned it was not a turbo.
