Re: Headlamp lighting very poor on my '98 S70
I was skeptical too, but they have glass lenses and look just like the originals. They’ve been in for a year. Hard to say whether they’ll last as long as the originals, but neither will the car. New headlights will make the turn signals look shabby, you’ll end up wanting to replace those as well. Th...

I replaced my worn out headlights on a 2000 S70 with these TYC aftermarket units: https://www.amazon.com/TYC-20-5410-00-Driver-Headlight-Assembly/dp/B002R1NBYC/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Volvo%7C27&Model=S70%7C146&Year=2000%7C2000&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive&vehi...

Nissens heater core, 5 years, 23,000 miles - no problems yet. Remember to wash off the oil coating before installation.

Re: 2000 S70 key only unlocks driver's door
I don't recall a valet key with any of the Volvos we've owned. Both my keys and fobs have worked perfectly until recently.
I'm going to remove the lock and look at the microswitches.

Re: 2000 S70 key only unlocks driver's door
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be opening up the door next, but I'm just trying to understand how things work. Most of the information on MVS and elsewwhere is for replacing or repairing failed actuators, but all of mine seem to be working. If someone could explain what happens when the key is tur...

2000 S70 key only unlocks driver's door
The key locks and unlocks only the driver's door, no connection to central locking or alarm. Driver's and passenger door lock switches work with central locking, and key fobs work fine. This is a fairly recent development, had hardly noticed it except a few times I unlocked the car with the key and ...

Re: 98 V70 glt compression test interpretation
Reminder on the heater core to wash thoroughly before installation. Many have an oil coating from the factory. Warm soapy water, or several passes through the dishwasher until smell is gone, otherwise you will long for the day when it only smelled like maple syrup. This is high on the list of mistak...

Re: 1998 s70 Alloy wheel Refurbishment ..do it myself?
Before you do any work, have a good tire shop spin the rims and check for trueness. I bought four refurbished Volvo wheels from a reputable wheel dealer. They were beautiful, but two were out of spec (bent). The car was out of service for the couple of weeks it took to track down two more matching (...
