A phone call to the dealer this morning yielded no help. I was informed that they would only be able to check to see if it set a code. If it did not set a code, which they said it probably did not, they would not be able to do anything unless the gauge went dead for them while it was in their shop. ...

I was planning on taking it to the dealer as a last resort if there was not a known quick fix for the problem. Nearest dealer is 120 miles away, hence my inquiry.

2007 XC-70 Fuel level gauge malfunction

My fuel gauge stops working and goes dead. When I turn the ignition off and then restart the car it works for maybe a few minutes or maybe a month but it will suddenly go dead, all the way to empty until I restart the car.

Anyone have this and know of a fix?

Yes, As I mentioned in the other thread, I had the dealer replace the bushing and the link ends. IIRC the bushings on the '93 are replaceable, but that later years they made a change that required the replacement of the sway bar if the bushings went bad. Apparently they are moulded right onto the SW...

Thanks for the information. I have had the same trouble with my '93 850. I understand that the Vovlo swaybar bushings and the endlinks are a weak point on alot of the models. If I had decided to keep my 850 I would have condsidered replacing the endlinks with the aftermarket ones that are available....

Thanks, The reason I wish to know is that I am considering buying an '07. If you had to name one weak point or area in the vehicle given what your vehicle is exposed to what would it be??

Thanks,
S

Angle Gear?? Can you elaborate at bit?
Is this a ring and pinion type of set up??

Where can I find more information?

Would regular gear oil changes help as a preventative measure?

Mitchellbd, Sounds like you are really putting your XC through a rough test. I am interested in your opinion regarding its toughness and capability for the off road or near off road conditions you have encountered.

Thanks,

Good Luck

Thanks, JRL as I was wondering about the AWD system's reliability. I have had a AWD Jeep w/quadratrac in the past that had to have its Viscous coupling in the transfer case replaced due to wear at 58K mi. Does the XC70 have a similar power transfer device in it's transfer case?? I also am interested...
