Re: 2001 S80 T6 Siren Module 9452709 Replacement/Repair - How To
Recently my alarm module went out. I went and pulled 5 siren units at the junkyard and only found one with a good PCB, everything else had bad corrosion on the boards. The one in my own vehicle had a mostly good board except for one corner where the PCB mask was corroding off. This is such a bad des...

Re: Turbo/induction troubleshooting 2006 XC70
reading your first post again, theres nothing to indicate any problems with the turbo but guessing. I can't hear my turbo either but I know it gives boost by using a $12 ELM 327 on my phone. I would want to read fuel pressure under load too. I'm having similar concerns about my wagon's power. Do yo...

Re: 2007 XC70 196k transmission
It wouldn't surprise me if A LOT of these are prematurely junked due to the transmissions. And it's impressive how effective the repeated transmission drain+fill works. If only this was prescribed at 100k, 120k, or 150k, we'd probably see a ton more P2s on the road.

Re: 06 XC70 - Recommended spark plug frequency?
As an aside since you haven't mentioned it, 120K is a good time to start doing the ATF drain+fills. You can do a full cycle (doing it 3-4 times in a row) but at 120K doing it only one cycle should suffice. It won't be very noticeable as the fluid won't have degraded much but it'll let it last a long...

Re: Front End Work
Is the "pedal to the floor" only at engine start-up or is it throughout an entire drive? If the former, could be the brake vacuum switch. My brakes were very soft at engine start that it made pulling out of park quite scary, got better after running for 15 mins or so. https://www.fcpeuro.c...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Just finished changing front control arms and ball joints on the 07 XC70. The factory originals (180k) were still working well but the bushings all showing visible signs of fatigue. The ball joint boots were cracked but not breached, the ball joints were only slightly loose. So the post-mortem is I...

Re: Expected maintenance at 200k miles
Abscate has convinced me to keep my vehicle running till 300K. I brought the car out here to CA from MA at 220K and since then it's been a lot of highway miles to the mountains and parks. For me the car is a bit of a money pit but really comparing the interior quality and comforts to newer cars it's...

Hit 250K the other day. Still chugging along.
Anyone have the part number for the rear license plate bracket? Mine is semi corroded and the plate bangs against the hatch whenever I slam the trunk

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Just got the car back from the specialist shop–new PCV breather box and hoses, and new timing belt and cam/crank seals. Labor from my shop for the PCV job actually wasn't bad, they only charged for 3.5 hours. Seals on the other hand...7 hours. But glad it was them and not me.

Re: OMG What's with the Sludge/Carbon Buildup on the I5Turbo?
What's interesting is that earlier this year (~15K miles ago) my car was sitting in the mechanic's lot for over a month while waiting on insurance and parts for a front end collision repair...when it was fixed I had intermittent oil pressure warning lights over 3-3.5K RPM, until it stayed on after 3...
