Re: 2006 Volvo S60 AWD - turbo replacement
I'm not really afraid of doing the work. I'm just afraid I will get it apart and not be able to get it back together. I am looking at this turbo on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S3S2719 it comes with the exhaust part as well, but if it were you, would you take the aluminum part off th...

Re: 2006 Volvo S60 AWD - turbo replacement
Well, I have an update. I finally pushed the car back out of the garage and started it up. The good news is that now the glove tests passed and it is sucking the air out of the glove instead of inflating it. The bad news is it didn't seem to make any difference on the smoke that it is producing. So ...

Re: 2006 Volvo S60 AWD - turbo replacement
Ok thanks everyone! I had some thick-wall black rubber vacuum tubing laying around from a different project so I ended up using that and just put a couple worm-gear hose clamps on it to keep it on. I was able to thread the banjo fitting in first try - to my complete amazement, but I agree that you s...

Re: 2006 Volvo S60 AWD - turbo replacement
What's the alternative to silicone? Plastic? Or rubber I suppose. I have some clear vinyl tubing I could use - I'm just wondering if that would get brittle over time too? It is quite flexible right now, but that old hose that came off cracked in about 5 different places. I think it cracked as I was ...

Re: 2006 Volvo S60 AWD - turbo replacement
I measured the end of the plastic barb fitting and it was a little over 4mm so I ordered some 4mm black vacuum silicone tubing. Guessing that will probably work.

Re: 2006 Volvo S60 AWD - turbo replacement
Well, I ended up pulling the other bottom two manifold bolts out (since they have to come all the way out anyway to get the new gasket on) and was able to wiggle the manifold up and down and the left bottom finally made its way loose. Just not sure how I am going to get that bolt tightened up again ...

Re: 2006 Volvo S60 AWD - turbo replacement
How did you end up getting that bottom left intake manifold bolt loose? I purchased a 1/4" drive 10mm wobble socket but I think the socket part of it is too long and the thermostat housing prevents it from getting a grip on the head of the bolt.
