Re: Climate unit blower replacement
Good write up Lee. This is becoming a more common problem as these cars age. I just did this service on my old Mercedes 300D (basically the same setup and fan). These motors will go a long time if lubed every few years. It is easy to remove the fan from the motor assembly. Mark the top of the fan an...

Re: Man It's Cold Out** Heater Problem
Sidewinder, You will probably be able to repair your existing motor as mentioned several times now on page 1 and 2 of this thread now. If that does not work for you, here is a one place of many that has the motors for retail at a reasonable cost: http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/1995/volvo/850/clima...

Re: Man It's Cold Out** Heater Problem
Well, we agree on one thing partially: Yours, If you go with a used unit be sure to add a little di-electric lubricant if you can. Mine, Better to try and repair/lube your existing motor or just get a "new motor" and replace "just the motor". Instead of the entire assembly. Anoth...

Re: Man It's Cold Out** Heater Problem
I'm not certain as to why it would be "a bad idea" to replace the entire assembly with a used one? It might be good for you to explain this thought a bit more in depth? No problem. I can explain it VERY well. So, you are telling someone else (or me) to replace a part that is "known t...

Re: Man It's Cold Out** Heater Problem
Thanks. Sounds like I will start with a blower motor. At least it sounds like I have a little time. I can look around the junk yards for a replacement. Bad idea... Better to try and repair/lube your existing motor or just get a "new motor" and replace "just the motor". Instead o...

Re: 850 GL 95 Heater fan not working/related to cold weather?
+1 Check your fuses first. The clicking you are feeling under the dash is the relays doing there job. So, all is well with your wiring, and not related to the radio. Chances are the blower motor is failing. DO NOT continue to try to get it to work or you will 'blow' the resistor. Pull the blower mot...

Re: ticking sound on volvo 850 se non turbo and other problem
Welcome to the forum! You said you had the car serviced? The ticking is likely the lifters not pumping up due to a change in the viscosity of the oil. What weight oil did they put in there? Should have been a 10/30 w. full syn. and an oil filter equippped with a drain back valve. Always spend the ex...

Re: Volvo 850 snapped cambelt.
Usually just a valve job. Not that big of a deal. Be sure a "Volvo mechanic" or a person familiar with Volvo's works on it. The valve train removal and install is a little strange for those not used to it. Or just find a salvage engine. The valve job option is not that bad. Assuming the RP...

Re: Brake recommendations
PBR ceramics are fine as well as NAPA's. The Volvo pads are better IMO. The PBR ceramics will put out a about the same amount of dust as the OEM's but with a little better feel. This feel improves in large increments when coupled with slotted rotors. Apply the silicone grease liberally with the PBR'...

Re: 850 Non-T 1994 intermitten "ticking"_Valves
Normal... What weight oil are you using?
As already posted. The lifters are hydralic, no adjustment necessary.
The "o-rings" (between the oil pan and block) can start to flatten on older cars and cause a light ticking at start up. Nothing to worry about in the short term.
