Re: Am I crazy?

No, that sounds fine - I'm the crazy one - I'm taking my 99 S70 GLT (leaky head gasket, no known maintenance history from 298k miles) on a 350 mile trip to the beach, most of it not on the interstate! Update - I did a Prestone coolant flush (swapped in about 1.5 gal of fresh 50/50, looks pre...

Re: 05' V70 forgot to tighten oil plug

At risk of seeming pedantic, a checklist is a handy thing, which is why pilots, astronauts, surgeons, and other people who have incentive to avoid ever having to say "oops" use them, and obsess over them. But when inserting a fastener, unless one needs to leave it loose to wiggle the asse...

Re: Exhaust note of 1999 S70 GLT?

To avoid the uncomfortable situation of crawling under the car while the engine is running, some folks have pulled a vacuum on the tailpipe with a shop vac and used cigar smoke to locate leaks (visual evidence being more definitive). Of course if the evap system is leaking fumes around the fuel tan...

Exhaust note of 1999 S70 GLT?

The one I just bought has about 290k miles, and sounds like a hotrod! I'm not sure if it maybe has a hole in the exhaust, but it is what I'd expect an R (or T5 maybe?) to sound like, very 'spirited'. Although, othen than a short dalliance with one Alfa Romeo GTV (3/4 race cams, headers) for comparis...

Re: Bought a 1999 S70 GLT...

Thought I'd get some pics up since my wife just washed the S70. Funny story about the '90 wagon: a retired couple within a mile or two of us had the exact same wagon, only better looking clearcoat ;) and a few weeks ago were T-boned and the car totalled.
