Re: Turbo Oil Return line - gasket and O ring questions
I had just finished a valve job after water pump froze and timing belt came off, wiped out almost all valves, so bought another low mileage head and did a valve lap and valve seals, so here is my issue. Got it all back together and had major oil leak as the turbo drain pipe came out of engine? How i...

Re: Hi doing timing belt need cam locking tool were can i rent?
UPDATE: No doubt, it would have been near impossible to break the cam pulley bolt loose without cam lock tool which I ended up buying. Thanks to all the advice on this forum, got the job done, changed the pulley, put it back into time, and low and behold it started. Only problem is I missed one of t...

Re: 2006 XC90 2.5T Timing Belt Flew Off
Great thread, I had same issue, water pump froze with no warning, and since I wasn't driver, wife was, she tried to start it, as anyone would, but knowing what a nightmare these Volvo's are, I would have checked timing belt immediately, not that it would have helped. Been through hell and back chasi...

Re: Hi doing timing belt need cam locking tool were can i rent?
Question, I have to replace exhaust CVVT for it is loose in and out, so here is my question, if I lock pulleys down to take cam pulley bolt out, marking it at point where it won't move off of cam lobe, and as I see it has a rest point where it won't move, but at top where pulley gear marks are, it d...

Re: camshaft alignment
The point is I don't want to turn crank more than I have to not knowing where valves are open to avoid damage. Other wise I would check piston travel. These no tolerance motors are insane to think engineers would make such a stupid design, but of course, it is all about programmed failure to feed th...

Re: 2004 Volvo S60 2.5T timing camshaft positions..
Curious, Been looking for same information, and given the poster on issue of safe position of crank pulley to prevent valve damage while rotating cams, here is my question, is it safe, poster was not 100% and I don't want to take a chance if it is not safe to rotate cam pulleys. I have exhaust CVVT ...

Re: camshaft alignment
Quick question, when the crankshaft is on mark, does this indicate no pistons are at top of compression cycle, as in, if cams are installed and set up that none will be bent? I picked up one of those please help finish project deals for a friend, and am dealing with belt off, and I don't want to tur...

Re: pulls while braking
Crazy, I have same issue, pulls to left, but as many have pointed to the obvious, brakes, calipers, master cylinder, etc., it is not a pull that would be the typical brake or tire issue, it is a spongy dip to left, not an actual pull in steering. OK, being involved in my own repairs for decades, I k...

Re: 2004 XC90 2.5T AWD Broken CV Axle
Anyone ever have just the tip of driver side axle break off at clip groove, was lucky enough to pull clip out with spring hook, and the end of axle came out with magnet. It was a flimsy tip with a hole in middle as if screw was used to keep end with spline onto axle. It was so stupid to see these li...

Re: 2006 XC90 Occasional Hesitation on Hard Acceration
UPDATE: As crazy as it sounds, must of been dirty fuel again as filter was clogged again. I get gas at same place almost all the time, so I thought these gas stations had filters on pumps? A trick I learned long ago with regards to rust particulars getting into tank from some gas stations, and not w...
