Re: Any recommendations for renewing the body molding trim?

I use "Forever Black" that I found on IPD's website. That stuff is amazing. Clean the car, clean the trim with the including cleaner, and apply one coat, let air dry, apply another coat, let air dry, apply more if you feel like it. It's been a year I think, and it's still good to go.

Re: can i change to synthetic or does it matter at 150K?

i feel obligated to repeat the conventional wisdom stating that switching to a synthetic oil later in a car's life can lead to oil leaks that were either not present or not noticeable forming or becoming worse, respectively. That's because the latest generation of synthetic oils flow so well, clean...

Re: Headlight Lens Replacement 1998 v70

Just replaced one my headlight lenses. Bought a no-name brand because the right hand lens cracked while driving through a storm system, same one that spawned all those tornadoes! I definitely agree with re-using the factory gasket and clips, and disconnecting the wiring harness for the entire headli...

Re: DIY: 1998 V70 Axle CV Rubber Boots Tips/Tricks

$150 - $75 core deposit delivers you a rebuilt OEM axle with replaced axle bearings and it's much faster to replace for a notch of a difference. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm with you. My time is more important than the money saved. The real reason folks DIY is the fun factor and pride. So if I can'...

Re: Volvo S70 / V70 Cabin Air Filter Replacement Video

Last year I tried a Purolator brand cabin air filter and it did not fit and had to be modified using scissors! I tried a different one this year, a chinese made MicroGard (O'Reilly Auto Parts) 3650. It fits perfectly because it has a plastic frame that's snug in the factory cabin air filter box. It ...

Re: 2000 V70 XC Powers up but doesn't turn over

The battery is old so that may well be the problem. My battery finally died. I was adjusting the headlights with the engine off. It was a Volvo brand battery that was marked "Made in Sweden". It's at least 5 years old because that's when I bought the car used, might even be the factory ba...

Re: busted tailgate latch - need input

I used the iPd interior tailgate repair kit. It has all the parts needed.
Bag fresh tailgate repair kit from iPd, so cheap and so effective.

I used a cordless drill and screwdriver bit and it made the job so easy. No more gap, trim is snug against the tailgate, and no more rattle.
No more gap between the inner trim and tailgate and no rattling.

Oh, thank God! I think I was getting confused with the ATF drain plug which looks like it has a magnet built into it.

Re: needs link to step by step oil change for '97 850

My car just 125,000 miles so it's time for another 5k oil change. I put in a Microgard oil filter, Made In USA, it's O'Reilly's low-cost house brand. Looks a lot like a Motorcraft filter that they also had in stock, that in turn looked like a Purolator filter that I bought last year from a competito...

Re: Transmission Fluid change 98 V70

My car just hit 125,000 miles. 125k.jpg I am following the advice of MVS members and doing a follow-up because there's still old fluid in the torque converter and cooling lines that hasn't come out. Last ATF drain and fill was done on the 31st of Jul this year. The magnetic drain plug was a lot clea...
