I use "Forever Black" that I found on IPD's website. That stuff is amazing. Clean the car, clean the trim with the including cleaner, and apply one coat, let air dry, apply another coat, let air dry, apply more if you feel like it. It's been a year I think, and it's still good to go.

I used the iPd interior tailgate repair kit. It has all the parts needed. I used a cordless drill and screwdriver bit and it made the job so easy. No more gap, trim is snug against the tailgate, and no more rattle.
