Re: Unknown wire near left front headlight

Just as a general hint. The wiring diagrams are available online, try to obtain one for your model year. A large part of the electrical logic or at least logistics of logic, exposed. Also, there are figures showing components like connectors can also be valuable in a case like yours.

Re: Replacement Gas Cap

Damn. I was fooled by the dealer

Anyway, at the same time I had to change the filler flap hinge which gave me a distinctive klonk when after each left turn I had a "like new" refuelling experience 8)

Re: Replacement Gas Cap

I've replaced mine with an original one. It came with the tether and I was told by the dealer that they don't sell the tether individually.

Absolutely, if you have alloy rims. Steel rims should take the one piece bolts. I keep a set of one-piece, fixed cone ones in the trunk for use with the spare wheel.

Re: Really silly sounding question

If you have alloy rims, go for those with loose cones. The part number is 31373474, they're not so expensive if you avoid the dealership. A quick web search for the part number brought up an offer on eBay for Original Volvo bolts for 100$ plus shipping, 20pcs which is 5$ apiece. That's what I'd go f...

Re: 2002 V70 Rear Relay/Shunt Removal?

DrDan, all I wanted to do was replace a single, potentially worn out relay. The one I was told that operates the left rear fog lamp properly is on the right hand side of the REM and it is blocked by the trim panel. Seems like a stupid location for it since I can't get full access upon opening the a...

Re: Rear Relay/Shunt Removal?

REM is the Rear Electronic Module, located in the left hand side of trunk CEM is the Central Electronic Module, located in the passenger compartment under the dash. Reading the thread, I wonder why you would want to remove the REM, not the trim panel which prevents access. I don't recall the exact s...

Re: Help me solve 2 problems on my P2 V70 D5

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest to open two threads for the two unrelated problems. I will try to address both here anyway. Power windows: Try to obtain a wiring diagram online, try to understand and then fault trace the circuit. That's of course very generic but you can identify potential poi...

Re: Will start but won't stay running

The P0422 is probably not related to running problems. It's thrown when the catalytic converter (monitored by the downstream O2 sensor) exhibits below threshold capacity to store oxygen. However, seeing that code very likely does NOT mean you need a new CAT. I've seen it twice on my car in 5 years, ...

Re: Dim issues

Sounds like typical symptoms of DIM failure. I would guess that you were on the right track, but failed at fixing it. Now the original DIM has been tinkered with, seeking professional help has become more difficult, but may still be worth trying. Replacing the DIM is another option, but you need to ...
