I'm in the pay as you play end of this discussion. Most economical way to run. But personally, if I wasn't so cheap I'd replace 5 at time. Those buggers always die at the most awkward time and you need to carry a scanner with live data to pinpoint problem cylinder.

Engine cover uses
Somewhere I read some pretty clever ideas for the inline 5 engine cover other that what it was intended for.
Like if you have 2 of them, they'd make a great pair of snowshoes, ect.
But yea a quick search came back with nothing.
So, I'll post my use for beauty the cover.

Re: 2002 s60 b5244s with machined turbo drain
No turbo. Regular atmospheric pressure on this engine. Using my finger to feel around and my handy mirror on a stick I do not feel or see any threads. I tried to get my caliper up in there to measure and comes up around - .790" I also thought about adding threads but don't like my chances of ge...

2002 s60 b5244s with machined turbo drain
Hey there Just thought I would post this little tid bit since a quick search never resulted in any real hits. My 2002 s60 winter beater has been parked for most of the summer and yesterday I decided too give it a test fire up to make sure all is well for winter service. It started fine and idled dow...

Re: What is this hose on the rack and pinion specifically?
Yeah, eventually those lines will fail and I'm not sure if Volvo still stocks them? The good news is if the rack is in good shape otherwise you can fabricate your new lines using a bubble flaring tool and 1/4 or 6mm "cupronickel" tubing. Not a bad job once the rack is out of the car. Would...

Re: Totally befuddled by drastic / fast drop in gas milage??
I had to replace those "L" shaped boots at the intake manifold on my 2002 S60 n/a as they were totally dry rotted and causing unmetered air into the engine. I believe they are for warm air recirculation at the air box. I had been chasing the reason for my poor idle for a long time and it w...

Re: Suddenly won't start, just sputters. 2002 S60
I had a similar situation with my 2002 S60 base 2.4 n/a S60 WIRE.jpg That's a picture of the top of the fuel tank sending unit access port under the left hand rear seat. There is also one uner the right hand rear seat but that is the fuel pump access port. That discolored wire was causing the breake...

Re: What is your next car?
Yeah sorry I hijacked that tread, but I thought that was relevant information. Maybe not. But to put things back on track, lately in my searches for Volvo replacement I bought a 2002 BMW 540i. Sometimes BMW is acronym for Break My Wallet. Beautiful ride but technically over whelming in a lot of ways...
