No power to fuel pump
98 s70 glt I was getting intermittent starting problems and multiple misfire codes. Eventually car refused to start. Assumed it was bad fuel pump as symptoms and codes were similar to another vehicle I have that ended up having a bad fuel pump. The fuel pump in my car was purchased 5k miles ago from...

Testing Fuel Pump
98 s70 GLT - Codes and symptoms are of a failing fuel pump. Fuel pump (purchased from FCP) was replaced around 5k miles ago. Picked up another one from FCP. Installed and not getting fuel pressure at rail. Battery, fuse and relay all test good. Replacement pump may be bad, but I am also concerned ab...

Re: Heater Hoses- Only buy OEM
A few years ago I converted my 98 s70 GLT from the Volvo aluminum heater core coolant pipe (interior), to the Gate rubber hose set up. Recently I noticed leakage inside on the driver's carpet, drained the coolant, and was going to remove the hoses to re-tighten everything. When I pulled the hoses ou...

Re: P0305 Code (misfire code)
Really enjoyed reading this old thread. Also getting P0305.
Two questions.
1. How do I test the intake manifold gasket using starter fluid? Where do I spray it?
2. Is there a write-up on building a smoke tester?

If I remove the interlock cable and do not reinstall it, will I be able to start and drive the car?

So you mean to use the release button on the shift console?
Are you aware of any tutorial on how to replace it?

Re: DIY: 1998 Volvo V70 Ignition Switch & Cylinder Lock
Abscate - Thanks for responding. A few questions - what does that cable control, and where does it connect on the other end? It appears to disappear down the steering column (which frightens me). What/where is the release button that you mention?

Re: DIY: 1998 Volvo V70 Ignition Switch & Cylinder Lock
Okay, so I got the bolts out of the ignition lock cylinder and the top section is disconnected and out of the car. The bottom section (the one with the key cylinder) is still connected to a blue cable which I think is called the Interlock Cable, but I am not sure. I think that to remove the blue cab...

Re: DIY: 1998 Volvo V70 Ignition Switch & Cylinder Lock
Foggydog - Thanks for the tip. Funny story. 25+ years ago I am working a temp job in Alexandria as the guy answering the phone at an advertising agency. Call comes in and the guy I’m working for is on the other line. I take the name down and tell him they’ll call him back. I later get fussed at by t...
