I will.
What is the sensor on the intake pipe at the turbo connection, and what is it sensing and reporting?
That is the PTC nipple. It heats the PCV oil to keep it from clogging.

Yes the DEM does apply 12V to the pump for testing when you start the car. I had a friend start the wagon while I had the voltmeter needles inserted to the pump connector pins.

The bleeder screw size for both front and rear calipers are M10 x 1.00 x 35mm (length). The fronts have a 11mm hex head while rears have a 10mm hex head. They will fit all 4 calipers. Just width, thread pitch, and length is all that matters.

Re: Thoughts on this leak? with photo!

It appears ATF is coming from above the axle seal? If it is I would check the TC for leaks.

On AWD P2s the passenger axle goes via the bevel gear and rarely ever leaks from that tiny axle seal.

Hi Pete. Is the Haldex oil pump original on your 15 year old XC70 with 280k+ miles? I've read they usually only last a decade on the Haldex 3. I replaced the oscillation damper, DEM sensor, and installing a new Volvo brand Haldex oil pump on Friday. My 2007 Xc70 is just approaching 130k miles.

Re: DEM-0001 AWD Not Working

DEM connectors are not soldered to the board, just plugged in mechanically. They don't take any abuse, yours may have lost electrical contact. https://a.d-cd.net/8iAAAgJs5uA-960.jpg Also DEM is not completely water/oil proof, that ruins electronics. I would split the DEM and tried to fix it: clean ...

DEM-0001 AWD Not Working

After reinserting the DEM onto the Haldex I'm now getting the DEM-0001 code which is Temperature Sensor Faulty Signal. The reason I took the DEM off is I needed to drop the driveshaft once again. CV grease was escaping from the rear CV joint mounted into the Oscillation Damper. I installed a new end...

With the drained fluid being dark I would do a few more sump drains until it comes out with a red tint. Add in some Seafoam Trans Tune then drain in 50 to 100 miles. Also add in a few ounces of Lubeguard per drain.

Draining from the plug gets out more fluid and more gunk as well.

Just getting it warmed up from idling and manually shifting a few times in the driveway is only good for a COLD reading. To read it HOT you have to drive it through all 5 gears up to highway speed with a few stop and gos for ~30min. Your fluid appears higher than average. Read the ATF where it's thi...

Re: Crush washer?

The large ATF drain plug is on the bottom right side of the AT facing the engine. If you don't have a 24mm wrench then a 15/16" will work. The crush washer is same size for both engine and AT drain plug. The ATF needs to fully warmed up driving via all gears before the drain. You'll drain ~3.5 quart...

I've gone by the theory to always replace seals when throwing on axles.

I'll inspect the seals when I pull the axles. If they appear in good shape then I won't pull them nor push them in further.

When installing new catback onto an OEM CAT that has a rotted flange what have you done? Do you cut off the flange on the new center muffler to slide on straight exhaust pipe or do you use and adapter flange on the OEM CAT similar to this? https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/walker-adapter-41723/100...

Re: Is this hose the transmission to cooler hose?

The top hose on the radiator is the ATF returning to the AT. Replace the O-rings on the green clip. This will remove some ATF but you're better off draining from the sump to get the dirty ATF drained out. Repeat that up to 4 times during 50 miles intervals and the ATF should be pink at the dipstick....

Try a 7mm socket with 1/4" ratchet from underneath.

If you cannot reach the top hose clamp then you'll need to remove the bottom hose clamp off the intercooler. You'll need a 7mm socket with extensions or a long flat screwdriver to reach it.

Re: Haldex Oil Change

Interesting... Your 2007 has next gen Haldex (Gen 3), so the flange may be slightly different, but the car was assembled somehow, so you should be able to disassemble it in reversed order. Did you try pulling the rear CV joint backward as far as possible? Tilt it? It barely has enough space to come...

Re: Haldex Oil Change

The flex joint is pretty flexible. I put the car on Rhino ramps that are 6-7" high, and just drop the muffler on the concrete floor. Though making your way to a new exhaust is a good idea since they are all gone at about 13-15 years or 200k miles. The shaft now has 100% clearance of the exhaust aft...

Re: Haldex Oil Change

No, you don't have to. Move exhaust slightly out of the U-joint way and you'll have just enough space to take rear CV joint out of the flange. I did it that way many times :) With the exhaust bent to the right I did try lowering the center U-joint to the left but no luck. Biting my teeth in fear of...

You need to slacken front CV joint bolts, then the rest will come out. I loosened the front CV joint bolts halfway but it gave no clearance for the rear CV joint. http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee376/jwholley68/front%20CV%20joint_zpstdq0poid.jpg Do I need to completely remove the front CV join...

Re: Haldex Oil Change

Ain't it easier to drop the hangers from the center and rear exhaust? Let it sit lower on the ground, not too much because of the flex joint on the downpipes. That's what i did, then you'll have enough clearance. There is not much play on the propeller shaft, you'll need to break it at the cross br...

You need to slacken front CV joint bolts, then the rest will come out. I'll give it a shot within an hour. The front CV joint flange has protection from the engine splash shield so it's in better shape than the rear. The CV joint might be melted from the CAT but the flange and bolts aren't badly ru...

Rear of the flange has 2 extra holes with threads, use M8 bolts to push the flange out. If the threads are rusted out you may have luck with a cold chisel and hammer on the CV joint itself. One more way is to unbolt the front CV and the support bearing and use the driveshaft itself as a reverse ham...

Re: Engine System Service Urgent

With your PCV system recently replaced chances are the fuel pressure sensor isn't connected properly. To service the PCV the entire fuel rail needs removal. Check that the fuel pressure sensor and all 5 injectors are tightly connected.

With no 24mm nut visible now I guess it's within the flange after the CV joint?

Wherever it's located I presume it requires the high torque.

Got the six allen bolts removed this evening. To get the 8mm allen socket firmly into the bolt heads I had to scrape out rust using a thin flat screwdriver. I removed the center bearing, while pushing with the M8 bolt at the back of the Flange, pull down the propeller shaft at the cross brace. I used only one M8 x 30mm bolt to push the Cv joint out that way. 1/2 wrench with an extender and a 24mm socket worked, but i had a counter-hold tool, and then a...

Doing more searching it appears the oil pump can be removed from a Haldex 3 after just popping off the propeller shaft cup (flange). The cup needs to be counter held when using an air impact to get it off the shaft. It wasn't too difficult. You don't need the counter hold for the prop shaft. It's he...

Sorry that your RMS is leaking. Replacing the RMS is a nightmare compared to the front seal. I replaced the front crankshaft seal on the oil pump twice over the past month. Second time only took 3.5 hours. How do you detect the RMS is leaking on a P2? Is the oil dripping where the oil sump and AT ma...

The intake manifold needs to be removed to reach the PCV oil trapper so you will need an intake manifold gasket. You will also need hose clamps. What's the lifespan on our serpentine belt tensioners? Don't want my engine blown away.

Recently did a timing belt job with Contitech belts and INA tensioner & Idler for the timing belt. The OEM serpentine belt tensioner was in good shape so it wasn't changed.

You will lose a bit, like 500 mL if you don't drain down. Cover the alternator, rinse off, top up when done with 50-50. I'll get another gallon at the local Volvo dealership tomorrow. With the cooling system thoroughly cleaned out I don't want to risk reusing a half liter of drained coolant. I've r...
