Can anyone identify this part?

Post by rrochell8 »

I was doing the old evap replacement a couple of weeks ago, and let me tell you, what fun it was...!!! After I pulled the dash out of the car, I found this part on the floor on the drivers side. While in there I also did the odometer repair. Great instructions on both were found right here at MVS. When I put it all back together, the first thing I noticed was that my blinkers didn't work. Then I noticed my fuel gauge didn't work and my boost gauge doesn't work. I was hoping this little part was some type of jumper and that it might at least be responsible for the blinkers. I was told on Volvospeed that is was a jumper that went into the back of the instrument cluster. I've taken back out and see no place for this...

Also, since the fuel gauged doesn't work, neither does the low fuel light. This can be bad. Luckily, I know how far I go on how many gallons of petrol.

So, here I sit with dash out and the cluster out wondering what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please try to post a larger picture... it is almost impossible
to tell what that is. Also, what are its dimensions?

thanks, Phil

If you go to Volvospeed there is a much better picture....when you click on it there, it blows up to substantial size..it looks like some sort of jumper. The rounded end fits nicely between your thumb and index finger. Overall it is about the size of index fingernail.

Didn't like how the odometer was turning over on 9 and then 8, so I went back in and readjusted the gears. Everything is back together and my fuel gauge and turbo gauge now work...no blinkers though...

I just don't get it....I can't find any reason as to why they don't work...fuses are all good...connections look fine....all other functions on the stalk work. Here's a bigger picture...come on everybody, help me solve the mystery.
