I have decided to keep him alive by buying a parts car with a blown motor and doing a swap. This car has a turbo which will still work. is it compatible with my non-turbo motor or will i just have to install it and be set?

Putting a turbo on a N/A block will blow it up, the compression ratio on the N/A is way too high. In order to drop your N/A into a car that previously had a turbo you will need to completely replace the wiring harnesses and the ECUs.
Your cheaper and easier alternative is to simply buy a used turbo motor and drop it into your new parts car.
