Anyone know where I can purchase the aforementioned infinity speakers? Searched the web and Crutchfield using the info provided in the above posts, but no results. Is it possible they have been discontinued?
I just recently noticed the magnets had fallen off of my dash speakers; was going to do a quick and dirty fix by re-attaching them w/ glue, but the cones are incredibly flimsy and brittle after 15+ years. Looking for a relatively inexpensive replacement that will involve little retrofitting.
Thanks!

Infinity seems to change model numbers at a furious pace but I just buy them off of eBay.

Thanks for the find, os! Unfortunately, only one speaker is available thru Amazon. . .and of course, I'm looking for a pair.
I found something similar thru ebay and crutchfield; model is "Reference 3032cf"
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1083032CF/ ... ence&ssi=0
4 ohm impedance, 3.5" speaker; my only concern is whether it will fit given the unit's depth. . .anyone have an opinion on this?

I just bought them a week or so. The 27.95 was for the pair.
They sound pretty good

The new speakers arrived earlier this week and I'm gearing up to do the change-out as soon as I get a nice day. . .February in Chicago is notoriously hit-or-miss in that regard.
Took another look at the dash speaker wiring harnesses today and I'm pretty sure I have the polarity figured out. The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual made that a pretty short order. I took a few photos for posterity's sake:
Question for Lee, Os, or anyone who has installed the new infinity speakers--how did you go about connecting the 100μF capacitors supplied w/ the new speakers? Looking at the factory speakers, it looks like the original capacitors were attached b/w the positive lead on the wiring harness and the positive terminal of the speaker; but these new ones are HUGE compared to those on the OEM speakers. Where and to what did you attach them? It seems a little unstable just to solder them inline without anything to hold them in place. My aim is to reuse the female harness from the OEM speakers and leads to allow for easy future interchangeability.

I used the female harness too and just soldered the caps in place. I solder them pretty securely. So far, so good.

mercharch, thanks a lot for the pictures! I'm changing my speakers too and I was wondering about the pos/neg wires
Spent the afternoon prepping the new speakers for installation. . .fired up the soldering iron [my first ever foray into this arena], and went to town. Here's the finished product:
As you can see, I connected the new 100µF capacitor inline with the positive lead. I would have connected one end of the cap directly to the positive speaker terminal [similar to the way it was done on the stock speakers], but I wanted to maintain a little flexibility at the speaker connection since there's no mounting plate to hold everything in place with the new speakers.
On the negative side, I made a simple inline splice connection to extend the wire even with the positive side. Voila!
Planning to pop them into the dash tomorrow right after I install MY new trip computer! Fingers crossed that everything will work properly.
