2003 v 70 front brake pad replacement

Post by v70 dude »

After a $495 quote for front brake pad replacement (no doubt they will recommend a roter replacement aswell), I was hoping someone might have a step by step instruction manual or just a good memory of past experience. I understand that after I jack up the front end, remove the wheel I should use a 7mm hex to remove the pins (?) Is this correct ? There are no bolts to remove? And what is the best way to push the piston back? I know its just $495, but come on; were living in a depression! The rotor appears to be a little worn, but I;ve replace pads on alot worse. Thanks for any help.

He he - $495. I

I cahrge $350 for that set including and incredible set of very high quality pads. I couldn't say $495 with a straight face.
Do your self a favor and buy good pads. These cars are pretty picky about squealing if bad pads are used.
My customers prefer www.centricparts.com components. I have to drive downtown to get them but they are worth it.

Instructions attached. Do this without a beer and you can have both sides done in a hour. 1.5 if its your first time.

$495 - That's funny

I'd actually recommend going back with Volvo pads. Have you seen this?

Volvo pads are Fine.

I do not use them unless requested as braking performance is lower than others available and dust is higher than aftermarket. Stock is a quiet ,dusty pad that could have better performance.

Nothing wrong with it but you can do better with the right pad.

I replaced my rotors and pads 04/2008 @ 80K w/EBC green pads. I am happy with these, easy to clean with brushing off as needed. I have never had "new" Volvo rotors and pads. I will say,,, the disc metal is made thin, or thinner ...My rotors had a wear pattern at .065" deep..
