Lee & MiJ claims that is completely safe to get rid of the flame trap screen.I got rid of mine about a month ago after oil change.

Also...Volvo stopped putting flame trap screens in s,v70 models made from '98.

Thanks guys replaced the seal and gasket today. Will keep you posted if leak stops or not!

The new seal seems to still be leaking oil. Will this stop the longer the oil heats the o-ring and causes a permanent seal? The PCV valve was fine and the PCV system doesn't seem like it needs replacing. any thoughts?

black light dye: you can put it in any oil in the car
put some in the oil, get a black light and look a few days later
