1992 740 stalls when warm

Hi All
I have a 1992 740 wagon with the B 230 F engine, nonturbo, automatic with 220,000 miles, built 10/91 sold as 92 model year. This wagon we refer to as "old faithful".
We had a 99 V70 5cyl turbo that I was told never to try doing engine work on because it required so many special tools and devices to re set everything that If I took it apart in my driveway it would never run again. So, it cost me $7000 in 6 years and wanted another 4K to deal with # 4 cylinder that went dead. Sold it for $ 800 and glad to be rid of it. Now don't be dicouraged I have had 2 122 wagons,2 122 sedans and a P1800( kickmyself for selling it)and loved them all especially the 1800. The 740 was our saving grace, It would sit out front for months on end and when I needed it ( which was at least twice a year for weeks while the V70 was draining my bank account)I would charge the battery and just touch the key to light it off , no long drawn out cranking, it just always started like I drove it yesterday.
The one big issue it has it that after starting from cold it runs great ,but if you shut it down to go into a store for a few minutes when you go to restart you have to 2 peddle it to keep it from stalling for about 3-5 blocks give or take, then all would be well untill you shut it off again. Let it sit untill cold and it was happy, try to restart when warm and it is a fight.
I could list all the components I think are involved but in the interest of brevity I will just ask what are my most likely suspects?

I'm having the 100% same problem with my 1987 240 wagon. At first I was thinking it was the in-tank fuel pump gone bad.......but now I'm not sure (because I put a full tank of gas in the car and still the hot starting problem.)

This problem started late late last summer but once the hot weather went away so did the hot starting problem, I drove the car all winter and never had the car NOT started when it was hot. But once the hot weather came back so did my hot starting problem.........hummm.
can someone point Phil and I in the right direction.

The 87 240 220K miles is like our back-up to our backup car and this is why I have not tired to fix it yet......but it's time to fix the old girl up
