ABS module - - needs programming?

I have the light problem but the speedo works fine. Is this still a controler or could it a wheel sensor? I did have a boot problem about a year and a half ago.

It can be either. 95% of the time on a 96-newer model, it is the ABS module if it has not been replaced or rebuilt before. But I made one of the wheel sensors angry once in the snow. If your speedo still works for now, it may be worth it to clean the wheel sensors first.

Read (and clear) the codes from A3 as shown here and let us know what you find. When you do, please start a new topic with your codes.

Got a rebuild from Matty Moo ( Very quick I might add ) put it in and am now good to go on that. Thanks to you all and especially Matty Moo. Very quick and the most affordable around. Thanks again.

On a '94 pull the codes. The '95 and older modules are much more robust than the '96 and on versions but they can fail.

Post back the codes from port A-3 and post them back.

We will work with you from there.

The '94 is a whole different animal. Pull the codes from port A-3 and post them back.

If you have not used the onboard diagnostic system here is how you do it:

That writeup is specific to the ECU but it works exactly the same to read the codes from port A-3.
