Hello,
This is the issue..and story. I put a new half shaft and seal on the drives side of the car.
I had both front tires off the ground because I wanted to ensure that the seal was not going to leak. After I finished installing the half shaft, I put the wheel back on. I started the car, applied the brake, and put the car in drive with idling for a few minutes to ensure no leaks from that seal.
I shut the car off, put it on the ground and when to start it.
The ABS light came on and stays on.
I checked/pulled out and inspected the fuses # 9 and # 29 in the fuse box. I still have the code.
I disconnected the battery for 2 house, and I still have the code.
I did not have this code before doing the axle..and I am very aware not to hit, stretch the wires on anything that is a part of the ABS system.
I have hear other people say that the ABS Relay can go bad!
Please let me know what you have figured out...if you have had the Code 4-4-4 in the A3 socket ABS,
Thanks, Mike

The 4-4-4 code is no power to the hydraulic valves on the ABS modulator and it really has nothing to do with the axles or the wheel sensors. Did you clear the code? It may clear and never come back.
There is no ABS relay beyond the overload relays and the ignition switch.

hi there,
I have the same problem. Fault code 444. But I can't clear it.............nothing happens. The red light on the ECU is not flashing when I press the button for more than 5 seconds in order to clear the code. heeeeeeelp

Maora,
Did you read all the codes before trying to clear it? All codes must be read first. You might look at a junk yard for one like yours and see if it your ABS Module.
I am going to replace my ABS Relay first.
